Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    “CLEAN ME…”

Every season I try to clean out our closets (including my 2 year old sons!) and gather lots of items for donation. I also change out my sheets from the heavy winter flannels etc to the lighter brighter cottons…it somehow adds a touch of spring to the indoors and gets us in the mood from warmer temps.
    Thanks!

Just this morning realized how grimy our grout was between our 12 inch tiles in our bathroom! Horrified but hopeful,I searched your blog for grout cleaning tips…found a comment from a reader who mentioned cream of tartar and lemon juice- OOH LA LA!!! Did the trick! I even left a small inch undone so hubby will see just how well it spicked up in there~ thanks for all the help!

I live in a very small studio in nyc so constantly cleaning so it doesn’t look too cluttered. My favorite spring cleaning ritual is pulling out my spring clothes stored under the bed and switching my closet..packing up the sweaters. Although its not underway yet..fingers crossed its coming soon.

We hired a cleaning lady for 3 hours on the weekend to get some of the yuckier jobs done. My plan for next weekend is to get on a 12′ ladder and clean the outside of all our windows. Then I have to take down the curtains behind the sofa and wash them and then hem them a couple of inches. Definitely got spring cleaning fever!

Ah, annual time to clean out the garage! Usually, we just do a once-over, but this year, we seem to be taking it a step further and doing some wall-board action and “true” organization. Wish us luck! You guys are inspiring, for sure!

    CLEAN ME

I bought my first house over Christmas, and since we’ve been blessed with so much snow this winter I haven’t had a chance to touch the yard and two patios. I plan to prep vegetable gardens for lettuce, pick up fallen pine branches, and sweep off the back porch in hopes of sitting out furniture in the next few weeks!

    CLEAN ME!

Spring cleaning started a few weekends ago when we spent an entire day cleaning out our “junk” closets as well as our clothes closets. We donated four giant bags of clothing and have sold several other household items that we never use via Craigslist. It feels so good to minimize! The downside of this was that now we have a lot of dusty spaces where our junk previously resided…so a new vacuum would be oh so helpful!

My current spring cleaning project is, similarly enough, my closet. I started a few days before your post with getting a new closet system (the other had fallen out of the closet wall because improper bracketing) and then I picked up some coordinating wood hangers at Ikea. It’s looking great!

Now if only I could continue this trend…

The back porch will be cleaned soon as it tends to store lots of junk (read: bottles for recycling, boxes from Amazon etc) that doesn’t make it to the recycling center during the yucky winter months.

Also, the linen closet/laundry room will be purged as it’s also racked up plenty of clutter.

Right now I am doing my 6 month purge. I literally go through every room in the house and purge anything I no longer have a use for. Then I send the items off to Goodwill. I am also in the process of re-arranging the furniture in a couple of the rooms to give them a fresh new look for Spring!
