Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

A Bissell broom just for pet hair!? How have I not known about this sooner? Our constant cleaning project is purging things that we do not need and either selling or donating when possible.

    CLEAN ME

I cant even begin to describe how much i need that vacuum. I JUST went through the bathroom closet, tossed out expired products, bought storage units for everything so that I now have all my first aid, products and electronics perfectly organized. Next stop the clothes closet. Now if only I had a vacuum that actually WORKED – the one I own is a joke – i literally run it over the carpet and watch as it doesnt even pick up the BIG stuff. Sigh…

I have lots of spring cleaning to do in preparation for selling our condo to buy a house since we just had a baby last year and are completely out of room. I am starting with baby clothes and baby toys, and then I’ll start putting winter clothes away. Need to make the place look uncluttered!

we recently created a chore chart for the fridge to make sure we stay on top of weekly dusting, vacuuming, etc. It seems a bit elementary , but I love the accountability and satisfaction of checking off my completed chores!

Oh boy could we use both of these awesome prizes! We do just fine in our wood-floor home using a broom to sweep both floors and rugs but having a super-vac and a broom with specialties for pet hair (hello fuzzy dog and cat who leave their black hair everywhere) would make cleaning the floors a breeze!
Well, a breeze for my husband. These fall under his jobs!

    CLEAN ME!

My husband and I are closing on our first home (a condo with tons of storage!)in a couple of weeks, so our spring cleaning is more about paring down: sorting things to donate, throw away, and repurpose. I don’t want the clutter from our current home to follow us to the new one…

Mulching and planting – it is a little too early to plant, but before I can plant I have to lay a layer of newspaper down and then mulch over it so the weeds don’t grow through…as messy and smelly as it is, i really do love it :) because it means summer is coming!

I was actually just vacuuming right before I read this post. My 9-month-old daughter Estelle LOVES it when we vacuum. She’ll frantically chase the machine around, and if we stop moving for more than a couple of seconds, she’ll try to climb up on top of it. With all the new baby messes, we could sure use a nice new vacuum.

My spring cleaning ritual involves cleaning out the garage. Removing all the stuff that’s accumulated there over the winter when we were too lazy to put things away in their proper place. Blow out the garage to get rid of dust, cobwebs, dirt, leaves from plants stored in the garage, etc…

I always start spring cleaning with the closets. I purge all of the winter items I didn’t really use and then pack the remaining items into vaccum storage bags. Once that’s done I pull out the spring/summer clothes. It really helps me weed out the clothes that I’m not wearing.

We just moved so it was nice to start with an empty house we could clean well from top to bottom. For me the biggest thing I do in the spring (and any nice day really) is to try and open the windows as often as possible. I love the way fresh air seems to make the house feel so much better.
