We’re always on the lookout for new art these days (lots of empty walls!) so we’re excited to bring you this giveaway from Barcelona-based illustrator Judy Kaufmann. I’m bold! I lived in Niagara Falls, NY for one summer in college. Moved up there, lived with a much older cousin of mine, didn’t know a soul (and didn’t know my cousin that well either) and I was a waitress at a restaurant right on the Falls. It was one of the best summers of my life and I met some great people!

I put all of my belongings in storage, moved back in with my parents (after 10+ years of living on my own), eliminated non-necessities and commuted to work by train every day to save for a house of my own. I’ve now been a homeowner for 8 months!

Back in college, I went to see a band play at a small bar, and thought the lead singer was gorgeous – so I wrote him a note telling him so and left it (along with my phone #) in the tip jar. So out of my character! He actually called me, too!

(Actually, I’m usally not very bold… I tend to be overly cautious… but…)

The week after we got married, my husband and I moved from small-town Arkansas to Los Angeles, CA for him to work on his masters. At the time, we didn’t know a soul here, and neither of us had jobs. That was almost four years ago, now, and it has worked out beautifully. It’s so fun to go on adventures together.

I’ve done lots of crazy adventurous things like travel to foreign countries, eat strange foods, and skydive. But I think the boldest thing I’ve done recently is get engaged and commit myself to my partner for the rest of my life. I have never felt more emboldened (is that even a word?) than knowing that we are going to be by each other’s side through the rest of our adventures!

Not really. I’m kind of quiet and reserved but certainly have bold dreams! I want to be a planner for Eco-communities which would mean quitting my job, going back to school, and moving to Washington DC where my current paycheck would barely cover my monthly rent!
