Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

    SEW ME!

Maybe a 3 or 4? But only with hand-stitching. I’m learning how to use a machine (I want to make curtains!). I mostly do mending these days, although I made a pretty rockin’ stuffed buffalo in 7th grade Home Ec!

I can’t sew at all. And have no desire to. But I know my wife would love this machine!

SEW ME! I’m probably somewhere between a 1 and 3 now. Sadly, I used to sew when I was in junior high.

Sew me …… A 5. I can stitch a straight line ( most of the time) and I finally figured out how to fix tension, but there is certainly room to grow.

I’m probably a 5 or 6. I’ve made my fair share of skirts and cushion covers. I did make my own prom dress in high school with the help of my mom however, if I remember correctly, I attempted to sew it and she had to tear it out and do it right. Right now I’m sewing on my grandma’s ancient Singer which is impossible to thread and doesn’t have a reverse button. I think it would make a better antique display item than my primary sewing machine. :)

Sew me! I actually do custom sewing for an interior designer with my mom (my mom is awesome, BTW). But I’m terrible at the machine part and make most of the patterns, and do the cutting out and prep work, and hand sewing. Sewing machines and I don’t get along. I don’t even have one of my own. This could change all that. :)

“SEW ME!” I would rate my sewing skills a 2. -I would have given myself a one, except for the fact that I stitch up my pugs’s (puggies?) toys. -I like to call it preforming surgery.

I’m about a four. I am great at sewing by hand and would love to teach myself on a sewing machine. I have about twenty different projects around the home that I would like to tackle with a sewing machine. I hope I am the lucky winner!

SEW ME PLEASE!!!!! I sew constantly but opted to get a new serger instead of a sewing machine. I’d love to replace mine. Funny thing, I was just going to get started on my daughter’s Christmas dress but decided to check my google reader and you’re post before getting started. Maybe it was fate.

It would be awesome to have a new and functioning one and also to be your first European winner :))

How about a -1? I think the last time I sewed was in middle school Home Ec class, and it didn’t turn out well. My husband has tried to teach me to sew a button but that skill has clearly not been retained.

I’d probably rank myself a 6 or 7. I sew a lot of my clothes to make them more tailored because I have so much trouble finding clothes that fit me right. I also refashion my old clothes or thrifted items into new things. A new sewing machine would make these tasks so much easier (My current one is like 30 years old!)

SEW ME! I’m probably a 4…my mom actually at one point a few years ago took over any project I wanted to sew so I would stop jamming up her machine. I have a very basic Singer she gave me (i.e. not much to break on it) but would love to upgrade to this one because I recently purchased fabric to make my son a quilt.
