Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

    SEW ME!

My ranking would be a very faintly colored 3. I have made a dinosaur tail that I rocked!!!! But I have a list/stack of items that I need to start/finish but haven’t started because my machine broke!!!

    SEW ME!!
When I was younger my mom tried to teach me several time how to sew, I hated it with a passion but I always appreciated the pretty dresses she would make for me. Now that I am an adult, I can appreciate and envy any one who has the skill of sewing. I wish I could turn back the hands of time, I would be way ahead of the game by now. I had to figure out on my own how to sew using other’s people’s machines and after many trials and errors I am proud to say that I am a 4..haha. Still nowhere close to where I could be if I had taken those lessons from my mother but some of us have to learn the had way.
This Holiday season, my goal is to make a quilt for my 5 year old cousin. A machine of my own would help me to accomplish this and other projects that I would like to tackle.
So I’m throwing my hat into the ring!

SEW ME! I was going to rank myself around a 2 since I’ve sewn a total of 3 items in my life. But if Sherry’s a 3 (and I’ve seen some of her awesome projects!), there’s a good chance I should rank myself below a 0!!

SEW ME!!! I’m probably about a 4 or a 5 on the sewing skillz scale… But I’m sure I’d be able to complete way fancier projects if I had a machine that could do more than two kinds of stitches and wasn’t a solid twenty years old!

I’ve been sewing since I was 8 but I’ve really improved my skills the last two years or so- I even sewed my little sister’s sewing dress (with lots of lace) so I’ll say I’m a 7? I sew on a completely bare bones $100 sewing machine though, so I’d love to win this one. It would definitely get lots of use!

I’m probably a 5 – I can sew pretty well by hand, but I can also sew pieces of fabric together on the machine…and I can DARN! I can patch up any hole (especially in jeans) in no time using the darning function! I would love a new machine to replace the old 1950’s model I’ve got at home!

I’d rate myself a solid 6. I took sewing lessons as a kid, and I used to work in the costume shop at my college’s theater department. I’ve made lots of clothes, but I try to keep it simple, because when it comes to complicated patterns or fancy finishes I get lost.

My mom is amazing with her sewing skills, so I can learn from her :) And, this giveaway ends on my birthday (I turn 33 on 12-12-12!) so I’m considering myself extra lucky for this giveaway, haha! A girl can hope, right? Thanks for another great fab freebie! :D

I’d say I’m maybe around a 7. I started sewing a few years ago and now can’t stop (I will admit, my first sewing project – a pillow – was the saddest, floppiest sack I’ve ever seen), but there is still a lot of skill to gain in the sewing arena. My sewing machine broke last year, and my mom has been wanting hers back, so this would make an awesome Christmas for me! haha

Sew Me! I’m probably a 4. I did impress myself a couple years ago when I made my own camping pad. I took a foam pad from the store and cut it into thirds and sewed a cover for each and then handstiched them together so they folded together. Now I have a nice clean pad to sleep on when camping. I love it!
