Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

    SEW ME!

I’d say a 2.5. I could sew a wonky bag, but at least some of the time I’d forget to leave one side open and make a wonky pillow case instead!

    SEW ME!

I’d say I am about a six. I don’t like to follow patterns so I make things my own way. I stick to curtains and pillows. They are pretty forgiving items.

I am about a 2. I am just learning and cannot seem to get the concept of sewing in a straight line…ruffles cover up multitude of sins eh… uneven hems. I think I would do better with a wonderful machine like this. :-)

SEW ME! I love love love sewing.

I am about a 7ish… I can make many things (and have!) but my favourite way to sew is to eyeball something, give myself a “yep, you can SEW (haha, I crack myself up!!) do that” pep talk and go for gold…. no pattern, just fabric, cut, sew… sometimes a pin or two, but usually not. It scares the beejeezers outta my mom when I go crazy and start cutting up fabric, but I love the freedom of creativity!

PS, love this giveaway, and really appreciate the international factor :) Muchas gracias!

I’m probably around 3 … just a couple of days ago my mom’s ancient (maybe older than me) sewing machine gave out while I was using it… (may have been the operator, we’ll never know) so, this would be an awesome win all around :)

    I truly enjoy your blog!

Between a 3 and a 4 typically…but it depends upon the project. Certain projects I’ve done over and over again, I’d say a 6+, but on any new project, definitely more like a 3-4. I’m not very ambitious and have mostly stuck to smaller projects, but this baby would help push me out of my comfort zone!

I would rank my sewing skills a 7 or 8. I have been sewing since high school and love it. I am 28 and currently waiting the arrival of our first baby in less than 2 months!! We are missionaries in Japan indefinitely, teaching English and only brought 4 bags with us when we came. I would totally love to have a good sewing machine over here. A 1968 Singer Fashion-mate was found at the church here and I am currently using that, but it’s an antique :)

Sew Me! I’m probably about a 3 – I honed my sewing skills as a kids trying to make five stones (it’s a traditional Asian game, using 5 small pouches filled with beans/seeds), using my grandma’s old Singer. I’ve since outgrown the game, but I still keep my precious handmade five stones with me, and I can’t wait to teach my kids how to play them!

PS: I live in Singapore and I LOVE your site! Wish I could go for your book signings in the US, and I’m glad that I could get your book on Amazon! More international giveaways please!! :D

I think I’m about a 5. I took a couple of dressmaking classes, but they weren’t in English (my first language), so there was a lot of looking at what the instructor was doing.
Honestly, though – Youtube has tutorials for ANYTHING, so sewing is very, very accessible. Button holes still scare me, though : )
