Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

Sew me! I’m a 1.5. I sewed a pillow when I was in the 8th grade, but I haven’t touched a machine since. I was just thinking yesterday that I’d like to learn to sew and will make it a goal for my 29th year (my birthday is Thursday!).

    SEW ME!

    Sadly, only a 2.

I’m not that bright when it comes to sewing. I do know how to hem and replace buttons, though.(Not unlike a trained monkey.) Did someone say “Shakespeare” and “typewriters” ?

    SEW ME!!!

I am a 3 like Sherry – can do some basics on my mom’s 1948 singer sewing machine. I have been yearning to get a new machine in exchange but just haven’t managed yet. This would be such a welcome gift for christmas – if I make the cut that is. I dont make it when the odds are 1 in 2, this one is 1 in 10,000 :) . In any case my fingures are crossed.

Sew Me! My grandma jean claire taught me how to sew because lets just say it skips a generation. Thanks to her I would say I am a 6 at clothes and a 9.8 at curtains and slipcovers! I am still using her old singer she got “new” 30 years ago and we share it between my cousins and myself.

This sewing machine would be “sew me”! I would have to be a 0 on your user scale. I wouldn’t know where to begin. But the thing is, I want to learn how to sew very badly. But I can’t afford any kind of sewing machine right now. My family and I could really use your help on this one!

SEW ME! I want a sewing machine so badly! I am probably about a 3 or 4 skill scale wise, but have never owned my own machine. I’m a poor student and have taken to making people’s gifts for the holidays by hand…a sewing machine would be a dream come true!

Sew me! I am probably in 5 or 6 range but desperately want to be better. I have been wanting to get a sewing machine for years. Every time I see any sewing books I feel like I should be able to make it too! So having a sewing machine would be so much fun. (I really wanted to make a “sew” pun there) I shall be keeping my needle and thread crossed that I win!

I’m a solid 3 and 1/2. Enough to sew a couple throw pillows for my couch and burp clothes for my niece but still be completely confused by an actual pattern. Can’t wait until one day when I can have a craft/sewing room in my house so I can keep learning though!

I’ve been scoping out machines since there is all kinds of cool baby stuff you can make! Cloth diapers, wipes, cute little outfits, fun stuff for the nursery..!!! Need I go on? Clearly I have sewing machine envy! Love you guys and hope you have a great Christmas!!

SEW ME! I think I’m a solid 5. Sewed some of my clothes in high school, one quilt top, and lots of cloth diapers/baby clothes, but I’ve never done zippers or button holes. And everything but the simplest designs always results in some special vocabulary.

I’m a very poor sewer–maybe a 1.5. I made an apron once…But, you see, my mother would be a 100 out of 10. She can make anything–she made my wedding dress, her’s, my sister’s, she’s made suits, coats, anything, and has often even made her own patterns! And to think, I have not learned from her, and now I live on the other side of the country (Canada) from her. *sigh*
