Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

    Sew Me!!!
So… I would say from the looks of things I make you might think I’m about a 4. But the reality is I’m about a 2. For Example… I made one of my sundresses into a high waisted floor length skirt, and it turned out really cute! …but if you look closely the seems are all off center and if you look at the inside there are like a million knots and tangled threads where I messed up and then just kept sewing :-/

SEW ME! I’m not sure where I lay on the sewing spectrum. I can sew most things by hand (mend clothes, turn anything into a pillow and I even made a queen size quilt by hand once) but I’ve never touched a sewing machine before due to not owning one and being too intimidated to buy one.

I’m probably a 6 or 7. I can make a bag (I’m actually just finishing 4 of them for nieces’ and nephews’ Christmas presents) and have sewn dresses for my nieces and me, but I need to work on the art of craftsmanship.
    Great giveaway; thank you!

SEW ME! I’m probably a 6 handstiching and a 2 on a machine. I haven’t really sewn on a machine since I was little, but my mom is a 10+ and my grandma was too, so I feel like it’s in my blood…or the potential of being a natural is at least there ;)

SEW ME! I learned how to sew in Home-Ec in 7th Grade with Mrs. McDonough. She also showed me how to make surprise muffins (they have jelly inside) and a mean streusel topping for coffee cake. Anyway, my abilities haven’t progressed much since the boxer shorts and duffel that I made way back when but most of my projects involve straight lines so it is all good. :)

Hmm, not sure where I rank, maybe a 2, 3 if I’m lucky. I’ve sewn curtains and bed sheets in the past, straight lines and I get along really well :)

I’ve always wanted to try making initials on pillows and this would be the perfect sewing machine to try it with.

LOL) I would LOVE to learn how to sew for real though, since my hubby and I just bought our first house and I would love to tackle some new projects.

Yeah, maybe a 2.5. I take out the beast, fight with it for hours, make do with a crappy tensioned project, then put it away for another few months until I work up the courage to do battle again. I love the idea of an easy machine with fancy stitches. I would then happily donate my beast to someone in need.
