Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

I’m around a 3 as well. This machine is definitely an upgrade from my current Touch n’ Sew model from the 60’s!

I am about 5-6. Never sewed with any pattern, just whatever I had in mind. My girl and her dolls will have more cute dresses if I had a fancy machine like that.

I would say I’m a 2. The only thing I can sew well is a scrunchy, yes i said scrunchy! Oh and maybe a pillowcase. Needless to say, it’s been a while since I’ve sewn, but I’ve been wanting to get into it!

SEW ME! I’m a 8! started sewing when I was young, during college and through marriage and children. Love to sew home dec items (curtains) and always made my younger cousins a shoebox of Barbie clothes for Christmas every year. My thirty year old sewing maching bought during my college years has died and I’m without a sewing machine. Would love, love to win new one!

Sew (ha) excited about this giveaway! I was literally checking out sewing machines today and trying to decide what features I need. I’d say I’m about a 5. Definitely have a TON to learn, but can navigate basic projects without too many hiccups. The biggest problem is that when I want to sew, I have to drive half an hour over to my mom’s house to borrow and lug home her 50lb machine from the 70’s. Having my own would be A-mazing!

Sew me! I would rate myself a 5 – I have sewed quite a few things that I have impressed myself with (shirts, skirts) but I definitely need more time with my machine to hone my skills. I currently have a 1960s in cabinet singer that I LOVE but its has zero bells and whistles. I would love to have another, upgraded machine.

    Sew Me!!

I would rate myself a 5 or 6. I started sewing when I learned I was going to be an Aunt to a cute little girl! I love making clothes for her! I’ve also made several aprons (12 to be exact) – most for the girls in out cooking club.

I love sewing and do a decent job, but still have a ton to learn! Here are some photos of some of my projects:

Sew me! I’m maybe a 4? I can do quilts and blocks and straight lines like a champ, but throw a handle or curved bag and it gets a little sketchy. I’m also terrible at the basic slip stitch, despite many you tube video viewings and a phone call to Mom. Maybe that downgrades me to a 2.5? Who can make an entire quilt but non sew shut a pillow to save her life? This gal.
