Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

Please! Love your blog, check it every day. I used to sew all my clothes when I was in school (in the dark ages…late 60’s). Now I want to get back into it with grandaughters. I probably got up to about a #6.

I was a 0 last year, but this year I’m probably not quite a 1 :) How sad is that? At least now I know what a bobbin is though…

Probably a negative number, but would be a great skill to learn – and having good tools can make all the difference, I’ve found!

I give myself a solid “5” for sewing skills. I took a home-ec class in high school, so I could probably use a few more lessons. But I’ve taught myself to sew quite a few things: hidden tab top curtains, envelope enclosure pillow covers, patch jobs for our hole-y clothes, and sewed a love-y blanket for our last baby. Next, I want to tackle a quilt for our boys’ room. I’ve borrowed/stolen my mom’s old sewing machine, and I’m sure she’d love to have it back!

I guess an 8-9. I’ve been sewing for 16 years and man has it made my budget stretch over the years!
My 13 year old machine has a bad crack in it and I would LOVE to win ths machine! Thanks for the opportunity.

SEW ME! I’d say I’m maybe a 3.5? But I’m so intimidated by the darn things (sewing machines) that I usually reach for a needle and thread or hot glue or hemming tape before making plans to borrow my mom’s!

I’m due for a new machine, and this would be wonderful. Not that having a brand new machine would get me higher than a 4 of 10, but it would at least allow me to do some extra stuff without cursing at the pedal. :o)

I’d rank myself as a 6. I took a couple of clothing construction classes in college, but I ended up loving to quilt. Right now I’m making stockings for our little family of three on a Brother machine from 1960. It does the job, but I brand new sewing machine would be much appreciated! :)

I’m something like a 3-4 with aspirations for 8. This basically means I get impatient and start making things crooked but at the end of the day decide I don’t care as long as my clothes don’t fall apart or something unfortunate like that.

Am definitely a 1. As a little girl I LOVED sewing, until I was trying to thread the needle and left my foot on the peddle and BAM needle through my nail! I keep saying I’d try again and started a cot quilt project… but have yet to finish because I actually don’t own a sewing machine, was going to borrow one.
