Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

I’m probably a 2. I would like to think that I could at least sew a straight line, but haven’t tried in MANY years. I would love to learn though and incidentally my 10 year old is asking for a sewing machine for Christmas. Sure would love to win this one for her!

Sew me! I think I’d rank myself a 2 or 3. I took a sewing class in middle school and made myself a dress, but haven’t really sewed since (though, around that same time I also was doing cross-stitching and a little bit of crocheting).

I’m probably a 1, though I have used a machine once or twice. (Why do they make it so complicated to thread it?!) I have some fabric with a curling print (as in, the Olympic sport) that I was given years ago and I’ve been wanting to turn into pajama pants ever since.

I would say a 5…I love to sew and come up with fun ideas but with the older machine I have, it gets a little frustrating at times so projects take twice as long to finish.

I’m definitely a 1.5/2 on the sewing scale. I always wished I had learned from my grandma when I had the chance. A sewing machine would be the impetus to get me to learn how to sew and our house is in need of some serious curtains! This would be a big help!

Sew Me! I’m maybe a 2. I took a sewing class for very beginners last month, but I’m still hesitant to try to sew anything with my pretty fabric. Also, I have a super basic machine. Maybe a pimped-out sewing machine would make me feel like I could conquer the world!

    SEW ME!

All of the kids in my junior high took sewing in grade 8, so at one point in my life I was able to sew basic things like a sweater and a pair of pyjamas (complete with piping, which my teacher was impressed with). So maybe I’d consider myself a 5? It’s been years since I have done any sewing, partly because I need a sewing machine!

SEW ME! Oh my gosh, I’ve been saving for a new machine and if I won…eeeek! My current one is from like 1789 and I have to open it up periodically and reattach a part that clunks off in the middle of sewing. Despite all that, I’d call myself a 5. I’m slowly acquiring new skills such as zippers, piping, and buttonholes. Slowly being the key word. With lots of You Tube videos to help along the way.

    Thanks guys!

SEW ME! I would LOVE to get the sewing skills of my mother, who, as a full-time mother, made curtains for her new house, beautiful dresses for us as little kids, pillows, quilts – you n name it. So with that, I’d have to say mine is a 2. I can fix buttons, somewhat fix hems and pulls, and once made a pair of boxers that barely fit over my leg in middle school in home ec. Oops.
