Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

    SEW ME!

Used to sew a lot (4-H, home ec. classes, etc.), back in high school and college but slowed down to infrequent mending after four children. Guess I could be a 7 or an 8 on the scale.

I still have my original no-frills Singer machine (no button-hole maker!) that my parents bought me when I was in high school.

I think I’m around a 3. I learned how to sew in junior high and made several fun things then, but I haven’t sewn in quite some time, so I think I’d be a little rusty now.

I think I’m probably around a five. I started sewing when I had my first daughter (May 12th, 2010) and have continued the tradition when number two came around last year :) I love it!

I’d have to rate myself a 1! I once made a t-shirt pillow in Home Ec. when I was in middle school. My mom is an avid and excellent sewer so getting my very own sewing machine would be awesome! She could teach me when she comes to visit!

I would say I’m a 5-6. I have sewn a dress (a simple one) from scratch. And I’ve sewn a lot of curtains and home decor. I am so excited for this give away because I have asked for a sewing machine for Christmas from my dear hubby!!!!

I am ‘SEW’ excited this is an international giveaway! I am about a 4 who is mad enough to think she can follow tutorials and give things a go. I managed to slipcover my lounge suite a while ago and love just trying things out. Would love to try this machine. Thanks for the international giveaway.

I come from a long line of sewers in my family but didn’t quite get that gene. Since I’ve been around it forever I can get by but am no where near an expert. I’d put myself at a 4, but one striving to be an 8!

SEW ME! I would rate myself a 7 if I’m in the rare patient mode, but for everyday, let’s say 5. I use a 1960’s machine, and have reupholstered a couch that had 6 box cushions, so I know how to fake it. But ask me to explain, or use the correct vernacular, and that’s where I’ll get a big fat F.

I have to relearn every time I approach a sewing machine, but I’ve made some stuff over the years–aprons, pillows, curtains. Nothing too complex, and nothing that should be overly examined, but I’m dreaming of starting a (simple) quilt. I’ll be optimistic and call myself a 4. :)

I actually took a home ec class in 8th grade (and I’m only in my mid 20s, so it wasn’t that long ago) and sewed a couple pretty cool bags. However, it has been since then that I have touched a sewing machine. So, I’ll say a two. But, my house is being built currently, and I want to sew some curtains and pillows and other fun stuff.
