Fab Freebie: Save Room For Cake

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Our lucky winner this week is… N Shirley (whose favorite dessert “to both make and eat is Virginia Apple Pudding – even makes the whole house smell good!”) Sounds delicious. Congrats!

We’ve had a few questions about why all contests aren’t open to international readers, so here’s that info for you. We actually ask every single vendor who approaches us to do a giveaway if they’ll ship internationally and we remind them that the more folks are included, the more exciting it is for everyone. We LOVE you all and always want to open our giveaways to as many people as possible! It unfortunately comes down to each company’s policy (some folks are set up to deal with customs/shipping internationally while some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – even if it’s just a book or a gift card). Sadly, we can’t change companies policies, and if we held out for international prizes and rejected everything else, we could no longer host weekly giveaways – which we’ve done for years. Hope that makes sense! We’ll continue to do our best to include as many of you guys as we can (we’re so glad this cookbook is open to Canadians too!).

With Thanksgiving just days away, think of this week’s giveaway as a warm up to all of the delicious food you’ll be stuffing your face with come Thursday. The mother-daughter team behind Philly’s Brown Betty Dessert Boutique is celebrating their new cookbook, The Brown Betty Cookbook, by giving away a copy along with $100 towards Terrain, whose wares appears on the cookbook’s pages. So if you’re like us and drool equally over amazing desserts and stylish kitchenware, you’re in luck. Seriously. I think I got a sugar high just by looking at some of the pictures.

    Cake Me!!! I love cake, most flavors, but my all time 2 favorites are devil’s food cake with marshmallow frosting & marble cake with chocolate frosting, yummy!

    CAKE ME, please!

    I love dessert. No, make that I adore dessert. The more chocolately, the better. However, my absolutely favorite cake is carrot cake (without the rasins!) I have high standards, though, and more times than not, I’m disappointed in the carrot cakes I order when eating out :-(

    Unfortunately, I adore dessert so much that I’m making myself go through a no-sweets fast from now through December (kind of like John’s no-soda in October). I’m discovering its a good thing to deny myself sweets all the time.

    I’m about a gazillion months pregnant right now (or 8.5 haha) and I’m all about carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Or a chocolate cupcake with super yummy frosting. Okay, so I guess I’ll take anything with frosting. Yum!

    CAKE ME!!!
    I have to say my new favorite dessert is fudge, I can’t seem to get enough of it. Went home to Nova Scotia for a month and half and I had ‘Oprah fudge, maple fudge, pecan fudge, chewy caramel fudge, and jalopeno fudge; they were all heavenly. I’ve been collected recipes to try at Christmas here in BC….nothing like fudge and good cup of hot tea~~~

    CAKE ME! My favorite thing to make is double chocolate layer cake. My favorite thing to EAT would be really moist carrot cake–haven’t found a good recipe yet!

    CAKE ME! I am a sucker for soft chocolate chip cookies or a good chocolate cupcake with vanilla icing. I live in the philly area and absolutely LOVE brown Betty’s and Terrain. Honestly, terrain is a bit pricey, but the place is so amazng it never seems to stop me. Such amazing things there and the set up is so lovely it makes me want to buy up everything in the place! Great prize with this one!

    my fav dessert is chocolate layer cake with dulce de leche (caramel milk), or vanilla cake with dulce de leche, or coconut cake with dulce de leche… or everything with dulce de leche on it!! what can I do? I’m Argentinian, dulce de leche is in my genes!! :-)

    Looooove cupcakes and I’ve been known to buy a box of 4 and eat them all to myself (please don’t judge me). I just made 12 pumpkin spice cupcakes the other day and there are only 4 left…uh oh!

    My favorite baked good is the one my Mom makes me every year for my birthday — chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and raspberry jam filling! This year she amped it up and added chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries to the filling layer. Deeeelish! Nothing beats a cake made by Mom :)
