Fab Freebie: Save Room For Cake

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Our lucky winner this week is… N Shirley (whose favorite dessert “to both make and eat is Virginia Apple Pudding – even makes the whole house smell good!”) Sounds delicious. Congrats!

We’ve had a few questions about why all contests aren’t open to international readers, so here’s that info for you. We actually ask every single vendor who approaches us to do a giveaway if they’ll ship internationally and we remind them that the more folks are included, the more exciting it is for everyone. We LOVE you all and always want to open our giveaways to as many people as possible! It unfortunately comes down to each company’s policy (some folks are set up to deal with customs/shipping internationally while some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – even if it’s just a book or a gift card). Sadly, we can’t change companies policies, and if we held out for international prizes and rejected everything else, we could no longer host weekly giveaways – which we’ve done for years. Hope that makes sense! We’ll continue to do our best to include as many of you guys as we can (we’re so glad this cookbook is open to Canadians too!).

With Thanksgiving just days away, think of this week’s giveaway as a warm up to all of the delicious food you’ll be stuffing your face with come Thursday. The mother-daughter team behind Philly’s Brown Betty Dessert Boutique is celebrating their new cookbook, The Brown Betty Cookbook, by giving away a copy along with $100 towards Terrain, whose wares appears on the cookbook’s pages. So if you’re like us and drool equally over amazing desserts and stylish kitchenware, you’re in luck. Seriously. I think I got a sugar high just by looking at some of the pictures.

    CAKE ME! I have no self control when it comes to a good cupcake. I’ve been to every cupcake shop in my city, and have the menu memorized at my favourite one…. It’s a pretty bad situation :)

    I drool over pumpkin anything so I especially love this time of year when I get to stuff my face with pumpkin pie, pumpkin rolls and pumpkin cookies. Yummmm

    CAKE ME!! While I am a lover of all things chocolate and all things cookie, I am more of a cook than a baker. At this time of the year, pumpkin pie tops my list!! But come next month, it’s my Mexican Wedding Cakes that are absolutely perfection!!

    I love my mom’s birthday cakes. They’re basically nuts and chocolate, so they’re gluten free by accident. And it is tooo nice.

    Last year for xmas i made a pumpkin bread pudding with caramel sauce and whipped cream. everyone fainted from the deliciousness of it.

    CAKE ME! I love chocolate napoleons with green tea custard. I love anything with chocolate but recently been loving the chocolate + green tea combo.

    Like many here, I love rich, dense, delicious chocolate cake too. But it might be a tie with fresh berry cobbler over homemade vanilla ice cream.

    CAKE ME! I enjoy anything with dark chocolate, but my all-time favorite is a chocolate cheesecake that a small little shop in a small town in MI makes. I have traveled all over and try chocolate cheesecake whenever I can, and nothing compares to it!

    My moms yummy apple pie…her and my aunt get together every fall and make around 80–yes, 80–to give away and freeze for throughout the year, and they are the best things you’ll ever eat!

    Newly discovered Italian sfogliatelle! Mmmmmm- heavenly pastry that my wonderful friend Debbie introduced me to when we had lunch one day at a terrific Italian market- Marchese’s- in Virginia Beach. Just the most perfect dessert ever when it’s fresh from the oven!

    like Jill, I read your site for more than the giveaways – but I like them as well. And I won’t win unless I give it a go…. CAKE ME!
    Favorite would be chocolate Mouse pie, but that’s not baked… I made an apple cobbler this evening, and banana chocolate chip muffins…
    Basically, if it’s made with love it’s gonna be good!
