Fab Freebie: Save Room For Cake

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Our lucky winner this week is… N Shirley (whose favorite dessert “to both make and eat is Virginia Apple Pudding – even makes the whole house smell good!”) Sounds delicious. Congrats!

We’ve had a few questions about why all contests aren’t open to international readers, so here’s that info for you. We actually ask every single vendor who approaches us to do a giveaway if they’ll ship internationally and we remind them that the more folks are included, the more exciting it is for everyone. We LOVE you all and always want to open our giveaways to as many people as possible! It unfortunately comes down to each company’s policy (some folks are set up to deal with customs/shipping internationally while some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – even if it’s just a book or a gift card). Sadly, we can’t change companies policies, and if we held out for international prizes and rejected everything else, we could no longer host weekly giveaways – which we’ve done for years. Hope that makes sense! We’ll continue to do our best to include as many of you guys as we can (we’re so glad this cookbook is open to Canadians too!).

With Thanksgiving just days away, think of this week’s giveaway as a warm up to all of the delicious food you’ll be stuffing your face with come Thursday. The mother-daughter team behind Philly’s Brown Betty Dessert Boutique is celebrating their new cookbook, The Brown Betty Cookbook, by giving away a copy along with $100 towards Terrain, whose wares appears on the cookbook’s pages. So if you’re like us and drool equally over amazing desserts and stylish kitchenware, you’re in luck. Seriously. I think I got a sugar high just by looking at some of the pictures.

    Mmmmm… Homemade chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven has got to be my fave! I don’t even wait ’til they cool down! Haha!

    CAKE ME!! It’s so hard to choose just ONE but I have to say, that I am a sucker for a cranberry, apple and pear crisp, with Vanilla ice cream. OR a sticky toffee pudding. See, I said that I can’t pick just one!

    I know this is sorta ridiculous, but there is no substitute for good ole Funfetti cake! Except maybe the absolutely decadent sticky toffee pudding I had at Gordon Ramsay Steak in Las Vegas once. Seriously – to die for.

    Cake me! I actually love Brown Betty’s “Hattie Don’t Play” cupcake. I went through high school with Norrinda and would have probably shopped there just to be supportive, but luckily everything is A-Mazing!

    CAKE ME! My favorite is a toss up between rhubarb cake or a family recipe we call baked chocolate pudding. My mouth is officially watering just thinking of them!

    Cake Me! Too many choices. It depends on what I am in the mood for but you can’t go wrong with my grandmother’s oatmeal coconut refrigerator cookies, especially when my mom adds chocolate chunks!!

    CAKE ME! I love chocolate layer cake with vanilla icing, with red velvet a very, very close second. And truth be told, anything from Brown Betty would be at the very top of the list. (It is both incredible luck and torture (on the waistline) to live in Philly!)

    Your next Philly-based contest bonus question should include use of the word jawn in a sentence. ;)

    I love homemade chocolat chip cookies, but i have recently been experimenting with baking homemade cakes and decorating them (a princess cake and rabbit cakefor me daughter’s who recently had birthdays).

    Chocolate layer cake: Nahhh.

    YES, I could eat warm chocolate chip cookies ’til me stomach bursts.

    Cupcakes are okay as long as they are made with cream cheese!!

    CAKE ME! I’m a sucker for any delicious baked dessert, especially warm out of the oven. And now I’m addicted to Pinterest and love trying new recipes to bring into work on Monday mornings! But I’d love to try some recipes from this book :)

    CAKE ME!
    One of my all time favorites is the chocolate cake from the back of Hershey’s cocoa powder container (with coffee in it). It’s such a classic recipe but people always go crazy for it. Topped with Nutella buttercream frosting… I’m in heaven!
