Fab Freebie: Save Room For Cake

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Our lucky winner this week is… N Shirley (whose favorite dessert “to both make and eat is Virginia Apple Pudding – even makes the whole house smell good!”) Sounds delicious. Congrats!

We’ve had a few questions about why all contests aren’t open to international readers, so here’s that info for you. We actually ask every single vendor who approaches us to do a giveaway if they’ll ship internationally and we remind them that the more folks are included, the more exciting it is for everyone. We LOVE you all and always want to open our giveaways to as many people as possible! It unfortunately comes down to each company’s policy (some folks are set up to deal with customs/shipping internationally while some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – even if it’s just a book or a gift card). Sadly, we can’t change companies policies, and if we held out for international prizes and rejected everything else, we could no longer host weekly giveaways – which we’ve done for years. Hope that makes sense! We’ll continue to do our best to include as many of you guys as we can (we’re so glad this cookbook is open to Canadians too!).

With Thanksgiving just days away, think of this week’s giveaway as a warm up to all of the delicious food you’ll be stuffing your face with come Thursday. The mother-daughter team behind Philly’s Brown Betty Dessert Boutique is celebrating their new cookbook, The Brown Betty Cookbook, by giving away a copy along with $100 towards Terrain, whose wares appears on the cookbook’s pages. So if you’re like us and drool equally over amazing desserts and stylish kitchenware, you’re in luck. Seriously. I think I got a sugar high just by looking at some of the pictures.

    Mmmmmm my mom’s Italian Cream Cake….which I now have been bestowed the recipe for! I make it every year for Easter

    AND I’m hungry….so a cupcake in the face wouldn’t be a bad thing :P

    Cake me! WOW! Very excited to see local Philadelphia fave Brown Betty on your blog–they made our wedding cake! My favorite dessert is actually–wedding cake! I’m always sure to save room for a piece-I know the bride put a lot of care in choosing it.

    My grandma makes the BEST strawberry rhubarb pie. It’s my absolute favorite, along with just about all the other pies she makes.

    CAKE MEEE! oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! add a little ground coffee to the dough, and they turn out extra soft and gooey!

    I just had a piece of Boston Cream Pie which is always a winner, but I’m going to go down memory lane for a bit… Years ago I was visiting The Boyfriend’s grandparents, and we were chillin in the basement when out of no where Mamaw descends the stairs with a plate of warm peanut butter cookies. Holy Nom Nom.

    Favorite baked dessert is my grandmother’s rhubarb crisp. I have a mouth full of canker sores after because I eat so much, but it is worth it.

    CAKE ME!!! Anything Chocolate!!! But I have a fledgling home based cupcake bakery and I bring cupcakes to the hardworking emergency dept staff at our local trauma center when I can – I try for one Saturday night a month and my Pumpkin spice with maple icing and my “elvis” – banana cake with mini chocolate chips and whipped peanut butter icing are frequent requests of the ED staff!

    Cake me! I can’t resist carrot cake. The carrot tricks you into thinking it’s good for you. I’ve never had a bad one. So yummy. I can slam down some choc chip cookies too.

    I love apple crisp!! Even better with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. Also pumpkin bars, cheesecake and my sister in law’s famous chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.

    CAKE ME! I love all baked goods, but my new favorite is dark chocolate cake with salted caramel buttercream frosting and chocolate ganache, which I made this past weekend for my husband’s birthday!
