Fab Freebie: Save Room For Cake

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Our lucky winner this week is… N Shirley (whose favorite dessert “to both make and eat is Virginia Apple Pudding – even makes the whole house smell good!”) Sounds delicious. Congrats!

We’ve had a few questions about why all contests aren’t open to international readers, so here’s that info for you. We actually ask every single vendor who approaches us to do a giveaway if they’ll ship internationally and we remind them that the more folks are included, the more exciting it is for everyone. We LOVE you all and always want to open our giveaways to as many people as possible! It unfortunately comes down to each company’s policy (some folks are set up to deal with customs/shipping internationally while some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – even if it’s just a book or a gift card). Sadly, we can’t change companies policies, and if we held out for international prizes and rejected everything else, we could no longer host weekly giveaways – which we’ve done for years. Hope that makes sense! We’ll continue to do our best to include as many of you guys as we can (we’re so glad this cookbook is open to Canadians too!).

With Thanksgiving just days away, think of this week’s giveaway as a warm up to all of the delicious food you’ll be stuffing your face with come Thursday. The mother-daughter team behind Philly’s Brown Betty Dessert Boutique is celebrating their new cookbook, The Brown Betty Cookbook, by giving away a copy along with $100 towards Terrain, whose wares appears on the cookbook’s pages. So if you’re like us and drool equally over amazing desserts and stylish kitchenware, you’re in luck. Seriously. I think I got a sugar high just by looking at some of the pictures.

    Baked goods? Literally my sweet spot! I love pumpkin chocolate chip cookies (which I made last night!) or if we’re talking cake, yellow cake with chocolate frosting!

    CAKE ME!! I’m always a sucker for warm chocolate chip cookies, but I have a killer recipe for chocolate peanut butter mousse cake with a chocolate espresso crust…delish!

    for me, i think my favorite is a tie between pecan pie and lemon bars. (definitely not together!) with thanksgiving right around the corner, my mouth is watering for pecan pie…it’s so ooey gooey and such a great sweet comfort food…but the light freshness of a lemon bar is scrumptious!

    My favourite is definitely my husband’s hello dolly bars. The whole pan is gone in just days! So he doesn’t make them very often anymore :p

    CAKE ME! As a Philadelphian I can tell you that both Brown Betty and Terrain are amazing and you definitely need to go to both if you ever come to Philly on your book tour! My fav dessert is currently brown butter and sea salt rice krispy treats. Perfect blend of sweet and salty!

    My fave thing to make is cake, especially when it is for someone in particular. I made a chocolate cake with coffee frosting for my dad once (he endured yeeeeeeearrrrs of yellow cake, which he did not like, so it was time for him to get something HE liked). It was the jam and a half!

    My all time favourite would have to be the life-sized chocolate-coconut cupcake I snagged at one of the cupcake shops in NYC last time I was there! YUM-MAY!!

    OK, it’s not really a dessert, but I feel so decadent when I make it and when I eat it: homemade pumpkin crescent rolls with warm honey butter. Isn’t your mouth watering?!

    Cake Me! My favorite is hard to pin down, but I’d have to say it’s either my grandmother’s date pinwheels or chocolate cake-old family recipes are the best!

    Cake me! I’ve really been craving my grandmother’s Texas Sheet Cake and pumpkin cookies but she passed away over a year ago and didn’t have a lot of her favorite recipes written down. So frusterating!

    CAKE ME!! I *adore* molten chocolate cakes (a.k.a. chocolate lava cakes)… the gooey center is just amazing and I wish I could eat one every day (the only reason I don’t is so I won’t be 800 lbs!).
