Fab Freebie: Save Room For Cake

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Our lucky winner this week is… N Shirley (whose favorite dessert “to both make and eat is Virginia Apple Pudding – even makes the whole house smell good!”) Sounds delicious. Congrats!

We’ve had a few questions about why all contests aren’t open to international readers, so here’s that info for you. We actually ask every single vendor who approaches us to do a giveaway if they’ll ship internationally and we remind them that the more folks are included, the more exciting it is for everyone. We LOVE you all and always want to open our giveaways to as many people as possible! It unfortunately comes down to each company’s policy (some folks are set up to deal with customs/shipping internationally while some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – even if it’s just a book or a gift card). Sadly, we can’t change companies policies, and if we held out for international prizes and rejected everything else, we could no longer host weekly giveaways – which we’ve done for years. Hope that makes sense! We’ll continue to do our best to include as many of you guys as we can (we’re so glad this cookbook is open to Canadians too!).

With Thanksgiving just days away, think of this week’s giveaway as a warm up to all of the delicious food you’ll be stuffing your face with come Thursday. The mother-daughter team behind Philly’s Brown Betty Dessert Boutique is celebrating their new cookbook, The Brown Betty Cookbook, by giving away a copy along with $100 towards Terrain, whose wares appears on the cookbook’s pages. So if you’re like us and drool equally over amazing desserts and stylish kitchenware, you’re in luck. Seriously. I think I got a sugar high just by looking at some of the pictures.

    Cake me! My all-time favorite dessert is cupcakes! There’s something special about having your own mini little cake with frosting on it. It always brings a smile to my face:).

    CAKE ME! Well now that my mouth is watering thinking about cake and desserts, I’ll say that my favorites usually involve massive amounts of chocolate or anything peanut butter. But I am an equal opportunity sweets lover and also enjoy fruit in my cake or carrot cake or coconut cake. Anything but plain old vanilla is good for me.

    CAKE ME!

    Hard to narrow it down, but I think my favorite baked treat is coffee cake, the kind with buttery, brown sugar crumble topping. That, or croissants stuffed with sweet almond paste. Okay, now I’m hungry!

    I recently learned how to make rum cake and it shot its way to the top of my favorites list, so buttery and sweet. It’s not kid friendly which makes it even better-more for me and my husband!

    CAKE ME!! My all time favorite baked dessert would have to be blueberry pie. Because we always have it at holiday dinners, it has a real homey comfort food feeling for me. Yum!

    CAKE ME! I have many faves but lately I’m in a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting state of mind. Also, I love Brown Betty (used to live down the street from their “petite” cafe) and I recently stumbled into Terrain…for about 4 hours! Great giveaway!

    CAKE ME! I’ll be honest, I’m a little weird about desserts… the only kind of cake I like is cheesecake and carrot cake! But, I also love homemade chocolate chip cookies and brownies from scratch!

    Nothing beats good old classic red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. But then again, maybe carrot cake, or maybe lemon cake. Shoot, I don’t know. This is why I can’t decide what to make for Thanksgiving! :)

    banana pudding is my favorite! People may not consider it a baked good but I bake mine for 15 minutes to brown the meringue and its amazing!

    CAKE ME! My favorite baked dessert is Funfetti cupcakes (box mix) with Funfetti chip icing (in a can)! It’s delicious!

    CAKE ME! Hmmm… I’m a sucker for most baked things, as long as they are topped with whipped cream. I made Apple Crisp last night and a cream puff would be really awesome right about now.
