Fab Freebie: Save Room For Cake

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Our lucky winner this week is… N Shirley (whose favorite dessert “to both make and eat is Virginia Apple Pudding – even makes the whole house smell good!”) Sounds delicious. Congrats!

We’ve had a few questions about why all contests aren’t open to international readers, so here’s that info for you. We actually ask every single vendor who approaches us to do a giveaway if they’ll ship internationally and we remind them that the more folks are included, the more exciting it is for everyone. We LOVE you all and always want to open our giveaways to as many people as possible! It unfortunately comes down to each company’s policy (some folks are set up to deal with customs/shipping internationally while some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – even if it’s just a book or a gift card). Sadly, we can’t change companies policies, and if we held out for international prizes and rejected everything else, we could no longer host weekly giveaways – which we’ve done for years. Hope that makes sense! We’ll continue to do our best to include as many of you guys as we can (we’re so glad this cookbook is open to Canadians too!).

With Thanksgiving just days away, think of this week’s giveaway as a warm up to all of the delicious food you’ll be stuffing your face with come Thursday. The mother-daughter team behind Philly’s Brown Betty Dessert Boutique is celebrating their new cookbook, The Brown Betty Cookbook, by giving away a copy along with $100 towards Terrain, whose wares appears on the cookbook’s pages. So if you’re like us and drool equally over amazing desserts and stylish kitchenware, you’re in luck. Seriously. I think I got a sugar high just by looking at some of the pictures.

    My all time favorite baked good is a gluten-free chocolate peanut butter cake that my boyfriend’s cousin makes. There are no words for how incredible this cake is. Also cookies…and brownies….really all of it :)

    Cheesecake is my fave, but I’m lactose intolerant! Luckily I found a way to make my own using dairy-free soy based cream cheese :) Sounds disgusting but even my picky BF likes it, so it’s gotta be good!

    chocolate chip cookies, without a doubt. i could eat them everyday (and often do!), and get nervous when my supply runs low. addict much???

    My Granny would make everyone whatever sweet they wanted for their birthday from scratch…. Mine was Lemon Meringue Pie…

    although my sister’s Mississippi Mud was a close second…..

    I have a major sweet tooth so it’s hard to pick a favorite dessert…probably chocolate brownies with cream cheese icing. Mmmmm

    Cake me! Probably the best dessert I ever baked was my husband’s birthday cake a few years ago: a 3-layer grasshopper cake that took 5 hours to make! Overall, there are very few baked goods that I don’t like..!

    What an awesome giveaway!!! I love a nice chocolate layer cake with chocolate icing. Also I’m a sucker for cookie cakes (they have been my official birthday cake for the past several years haha)

    Normally I would say cookies, but I just tried this recipe for mini almond & raspberry cheesecakes last weekend, and omahgah, they were to die for. Although I have a hard time saying no to any baked good!

    CAKE ME!!! My all time favorite is my Grandmothers made from scratch Angel Food cake! She is gone now, but I have her recipe that I made into an Engineer print and its hanging in my kitchen. Now if I could just get the courage to attempt to bake it…lol

    I think brownies are my favorite me-baked dessert, but if someone else is doing the baking (especially my mother-in-law) I’d gladly opt for cheesecake!

    I love freshly baked oatmeal cookies. No chocolate chips or raisins…just the oatmeal yumminess. :) Thanks for making me hungry!
