Fab Freebie: Roll On Some Royalty

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below!***

Sorry for the late notice (travel is messing up my winner picking mojo!), but the random winner of this stencil prize is… Jen (who once “made a chevron painting with instructions I found on Pinterest and it turned out great”). Congrats Jen!

The love of stencils that first blossomed when we did our office walls only grew stronger when we tackled a couple of stenciling projects for our book (on pages 26 & 282). So in the spirit of sharing the love, this week’s prize comes from the maker of the very stencils that we used in all three cases – Royal Design Studio. We’re longtime fans of their modern shapes and patterns, and they’re starting you off with a $100 stencil gift card and throwing in a $100 “Stencil Success Kit” that includes the essentials for executing your stencil project. You’ll get a roller set, 7 brushes, and your choice of five stencil crémes. And to top it all off, how about a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice? That totals a $250 kick in the pants to get your stencil on.

Royal Design Studio Giveaway

  • PRIZE: $100 stencil gift card to Royal Design Studio, plus a “Stencil Success Kit” and a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “STENCIL ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … one DIY project that you’ve tackled once and are dying to try again. Is it a paint project? Something building related? Are you itching to take another whack at a crafting or sewing project?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Nov 14th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Royal Design Studio.

    STENCIL ME!!!!

I haven’t DIY’ed anything in years, but I’m gearing up to do several projects for my son’s nursery. He’ll be here in February, so I need to get on it soon!

I’m on the verge of painting another piece of furniture. My attempts always end up looking like a toddler’s craft project but hopefully next time it’ll be better!

STENCIL ME! I really want to stencil the upper half of our dining room. A free stencil is way more attractive than buying one, but I may have to go that route.

    STENCIL ME!

I need to paint some fabric (maybe just drop cloths) to make a curtain to replace the bi-fold doors that we took down in the playroom. Because bi-fold doors + little fingers = lots of pinched pinkies! And no doors means we see the mess! I also need to make a no-sew cushion for the window seat in there.

My current project is a knock-off mail center made from heavy-duty cardboard covered with fabric. I just have to get a warm enough day to spray the adhesive on the cardboard, then get the paper-craft supplies out and label the bins!

Oh, and I’m in the middle of my annual holiday baking, where I churn out about 2500 cookies, so I guess I’m a little busy here!

Dreaming of a dramatic stencil though for the back end of my bedroom :)

STENCIL ME! One project I would like to try is making a vanity from and old dresser. I just finished making drawer fronts for our current vanity for the time being, and I’m feeling a bit more confident with my wood-working skills

I got in to sewing/quilting while laid off from my job and I really enjoyed it. Once I got a new full time job, had a baby a new house etc, pulling out the ole sewing machine doesnt top the list!

PS – I was thinking of stenciling a backsplash in our kitchen… I have been looking at stencils. If I ever do it…I will surely send a picture to you!

I’d love to try alying bamboo floor again. We replaced living room carpet with bamboo in our old house. Our new house has some nasty carpet in the lower level that would really look much better in the dumpster.

I did a gallery wall for my little lady’s nursery and I’m now in the process of creating about 3 more around the house. It’s so much fun to get creative, piecing together things most people wouldn’t think to put in frames or hang on the walls. All of the fun personal-to-us touches are going a long way in making our house feel like a home.

We just did two small furniture refinish projects, one involving an armoire that Erich painted deep blue with metallic hardware and then a kids bench I painted a shade of turquoise and plan on stenciling with the alphabet. I also have one last piece to do – a small bookcase – and I want to use a modern repeating stencil on the shelves and top to liven it up a bit!

I’m in the middle of a DIY Project right now. I’m painting a rolling kitchen cart I bought to use as a coffee bar. It is laminate, so a little more involved. I’m really excited on how it will turn out.

I’m also painting some IKEA floating shelves to use in my dining room.

Stencil Me, Please!! I am actually going to try to make some new doors for built in cabinets in my small townhouse living room. Currently they are the ugly formica like ‘european” style cabinets that went into every townhouse in the 80’s. Thinking to replace with homemade doors painted white to match the trim. Cross your fingers it works :-)
