Fab Freebie: Roll On Some Royalty

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below!***

Sorry for the late notice (travel is messing up my winner picking mojo!), but the random winner of this stencil prize is… Jen (who once “made a chevron painting with instructions I found on Pinterest and it turned out great”). Congrats Jen!

The love of stencils that first blossomed when we did our office walls only grew stronger when we tackled a couple of stenciling projects for our book (on pages 26 & 282). So in the spirit of sharing the love, this week’s prize comes from the maker of the very stencils that we used in all three cases – Royal Design Studio. We’re longtime fans of their modern shapes and patterns, and they’re starting you off with a $100 stencil gift card and throwing in a $100 “Stencil Success Kit” that includes the essentials for executing your stencil project. You’ll get a roller set, 7 brushes, and your choice of five stencil crémes. And to top it all off, how about a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice? That totals a $250 kick in the pants to get your stencil on.

Royal Design Studio Giveaway

  • PRIZE: $100 stencil gift card to Royal Design Studio, plus a “Stencil Success Kit” and a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “STENCIL ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … one DIY project that you’ve tackled once and are dying to try again. Is it a paint project? Something building related? Are you itching to take another whack at a crafting or sewing project?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Nov 14th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Royal Design Studio.

I loved learning electricity, I changed out a thermostat in my new (way old) house. I’ve never stenciled, but this little place could use that kind of personality.

Stencil me! I am refinishing a table right now, which is super fun! I am sanding it down by hand which is an arduous process but a good work out so I don’t mind.

Hey I wanted to share with you guys – I got to stay at the Jefferson Hotel last night… OMYGOSHAMAZING!!! I knew it was an incredible place, but holy cow, I don’t think I have ever seen a place like it! Not to mention I will probably never in my life be able to stay somewhere like that again, hah! (I was interviewing at VCU, and they footed the bill). I loved the alligators everywhere.

    STENCIL ME!
I’ve never stenciled before, but I’ve painted freehand designs and murals in almost every room in our house and I’m ready to tackle it again in my poor, neglected dining room. After 13 years of living with old hand-me-down rickety furniture that wasn’t fit to be seen (or sat in) I finally got a new set. We’re putting in hardwood floor and board and batten trim ourselves, and I’m making curtains. All hopefully done before Christmas…which I’m hosting this year. And of course on top of all that I get to paint the walls, which I am so looking forward to doing. But I’m not excited that freehand painting takes me forever, so stenciling has been something I’ve been looking into. Fun AND fast.

I can’t wait to paint the rest of my mismatched hand-me-down wooden chair bright turquoise (or other fun shades) after doing so with a scavenged IKEA chair I rescued from a Chicago back alley years ago. Every time I look at that charming little blue chair, I think about how it was once on it’s way to the garbage dump–but now it’s a loved member of my collection of furniture friends!

I’ve loved their designs ever since seeing them on the My Marrakech blog, and am thinking stencils could be a smart alternative to wallpaper for my bathroom re-do. I could also see using them as a decorative element to jazz up the insets on a tall, narrow, currently cottage-y storage unit that I want to paint over and make look more sophisticated.

STENCIL ME! I would love to repaint my room. It is a yellow that was supposed to be more pastel, but it’s not. Sadness. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a gorgeous color…it’s just more jump around sunshine than relaxing mellow yellow calmness. I think a cute tan stenciled design will be just the thing to calm it down.

Stencil me! I learned how to hang drywall a few months back when my husband moved some doorways to provide a better flow through the house and add an extra closet. Next project is taping and mudding the corners in my daughter’s room, and this time I’ve got to do it solo when I’ve never done the edges before.
