Fab Freebie: Roll On Some Royalty

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below!***

Sorry for the late notice (travel is messing up my winner picking mojo!), but the random winner of this stencil prize is… Jen (who once “made a chevron painting with instructions I found on Pinterest and it turned out great”). Congrats Jen!

The love of stencils that first blossomed when we did our office walls only grew stronger when we tackled a couple of stenciling projects for our book (on pages 26 & 282). So in the spirit of sharing the love, this week’s prize comes from the maker of the very stencils that we used in all three cases – Royal Design Studio. We’re longtime fans of their modern shapes and patterns, and they’re starting you off with a $100 stencil gift card and throwing in a $100 “Stencil Success Kit” that includes the essentials for executing your stencil project. You’ll get a roller set, 7 brushes, and your choice of five stencil crémes. And to top it all off, how about a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice? That totals a $250 kick in the pants to get your stencil on.

Royal Design Studio Giveaway

  • PRIZE: $100 stencil gift card to Royal Design Studio, plus a “Stencil Success Kit” and a $50 paint allowance to the paint store of your choice
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “STENCIL ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … one DIY project that you’ve tackled once and are dying to try again. Is it a paint project? Something building related? Are you itching to take another whack at a crafting or sewing project?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Nov 14th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Royal Design Studio.

STENCIL ME! My daughter and I painted chevron stripes on an Ikea area rug. I was a bit nervous that after a day of painting that when we removed the painters tape, that the paint would have seeped through the rug. It was perfect! Now I’m ready to take on wall stripes on the ‘not so perfectly smooth’ walls in my dining room!

One of my favorite recent house projects was making functioning Roman shades out of fabric, glue, and inexpensive vinyl blinds from Target. They add beautiful color and pattern and some privacy to my room.

We just finished painting the trim in our dining room, which was bare wood and loved how it brightened up the space. We really need to carry the bright white trim color into the rest of the house (which is all painted a pukey-brown off white color with an unpainted quarter-inch round)!

STENCIL ME! Indoor winter projects for this Chicagoan include stenciling a cool geometric pattern over my dark grey walls in the spare bedroom. The second half of the project is to board and batten the bottom half of the walls and finish with pops of color. Already have a neat yellow cedar chest just waiting to find its new home in this newly stenciled room!

A few weeks ago, my husband and I painted the walls in our living room, dining room, and master bedroom. It was a lot of work, but also a lot of fun! <—first-timers! Our guest bedroom aka future nursery is in dire need of a paint job, so I'd love to get started on that soon, and I'd love to accent one of the walls with a beautiful stencil.

STENCIL ME – I want to repaint my master bedroom. My husband and I argued in Lowes about the right shade of green. Eventually, he gave in, but once I painted it, I realized that he was right. We should have gone with something with more blue and less yellow. Plus, adding a stencil would look nice!

I recovered a thrift store lamp shade with a tangerine colored t-shirt and then covered the whole thing with rosettes I made out of leftover tangerine colored crepe streamers and turquoise colored crepe streamers. The colors matched my tween daughters bedroom perfectly! I’d love to try it with another lampshade, but maybe use something else like peacock feathers and costume jewelry.

My husband and I have a tiny house (less than 1000 sq feet)and are always trying to make the common areas work better for us. We’ve finally found the perfect paint color for the living room – which we’ve painted three times. However, I would love to use a stencil on one wall of our dining room. We’ve painted the dining room twice, and I really think a stencil with differentiate the space from the living room and make it extra lovely!
