Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. PAINT MY PET! I would commission a portrait of Mosby, my 6 lb. yorkie-poo (that’s half yorkie, half poodle, not just a weird name I made up). My favorite thing he does is bark at squirrels through the window, and when they don’t respond to his threats, he gets his life size squirrel stuffed animal and shakes it in the window while growling. He’s brilliant and hilarious. And also a little nuts.

I lost my cat Stitch last year. His death was really sudden. He was only 6 and died of heart failure. We knew he had a heart murmur but our vet thought he was OK. Stitch was 16 pounds of love and I miss him. I always told my husband that he may be my husband, but Stitch is my boyfriend because he always acted like I was the best thing ever. Such a good friend and it would be nice to have a portrait of him around the house.

We got Molly when my siblings and I were older and now only my sister is at home with my parents and I swear some days (all days who am I trying to kid) … my parents love Molly more than any of their ‘human children’ :)But we certainly all love Molly to bits. PAINT MY PAINT.. it would be my beagle Scooby. Well, he is my fiance’s dog and he (fiance) just came back from Kuwait after six months, and their reunion brought few tears for everyone involved. Scooby is a local celebrity. We take him to lots of places with us and everyone knows and loves Scooby, everyone but poor squirrels.. or is it poor Scooby who thinks he can catch them. I would love to have my co-worker’s golden retriever painted. Gracie (pet’s name) died suddenly on Friday. She was our office pet and we all loved her. In our office, we work to train child care professionals on how to best help and protect children from abuse. Gracie was a bright spot in a normally stressful day. She will be missed.

PAINT MY PET! Paint my kitty, Finnigan. He’s like the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of cats. One minute he’s snuggling up and taking naps with us, and the next he’s biting our ankles and chewing off all his fur.
