Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

I wear my wedding ring every day. The diamond came from my husband’s grandmother. It is so special to me and SHE is so special to me. The first time I met her, before I began dating my now husband, she grabbed my hands before I left a get together and told me she knew I would have great things happen to me in my life. She was right! I married her oldest grandchild 13 months later. :)

The only jewelry I wear every single day, without fail, is a set of simple gold hoop earrings that my husband bought me before we were married over twenty years ago. I wear my wedding rings on days I don’t have to work (as a nurse, I can’t wear them at the hospital).

My grandmother had her modest engagement ring transformed into a necklace that I wear nearly every day. My grandfather died a couple of years after I was born. I love that I have something that he gave to her.

Wow you peeps have the best giveaways. Okay, the only things I wear every single day without fail are my rings. Engagement ring and wedding ring, obviously, on my left hand; and on my right hand I wear a ring my parents gave me when I turned 21. It’s a knot to symbolize the fact that their love for me will never fail, and that I’m still their loved daughter no matter how old I get. It used to be two-tone (gold and silver) but the silver part was just plated and I’ve worn it so much the silver came off and it’s now plain gold.

I am one of those feels-naked-without-jewelry people (side effect of being the daughter of a jeweler?), so I always wear a necklace, bracelet, and anklet. If I have work/school, I also wear a watch. In terms of a single item, though, the never-changes thing is a gold anchor chain ankle that t I was given when I was 14 or so. I have a matching bracelet and necklace that I also often wear– the bracelet is rarely off, but I change necklaces fairly frequently.

OOOHH SHINY!!! I wear a simple ring my dad bought for me in Mexico. Its very plain and sterling silver with a big oval stone in the middle called Larimar. I wear it everyday and I love the stone (its only found in the Caribbean). Its so simple and its as if it were apart of me. Like another appendage! WEIRD….but so true.

Oohh shiny! I wear two rings everyday. One is a silver ring with turtles on it that I bought to help the world wildlife federation in high school. (16 years ago) and the other is a large silver ring that I was given while I was in China four years ago. Both hold a very special place in my heart and I get compliments on them often.
