Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

I wear my engagement ring/wedding band everyday, and the watch my husband bought me for my first birthday after out wedding.
After my grandmother passed away, my aunt handed me an envelope with some money it, and note that said “your gram loved you very much. Shortly after her first grandchild was born she would randomly hand me money, told me to save it for the granchildren and give it to them when she died. I have been collecting money from her for alomst 40+ years. Go buy yourself something special.” And I bought a ring, and wear it everyday to remember her and how loved I am.

I wear a necklace that was my “push present” when i had my now 3 year old son. Its a small heart (like the size of a dime) with a very tiny diamond in the middle. I think I’d feel naked without it, or another necklace in its place.

I like having a ring on my fingers to play with when I’m nervous or bored. Since I’m not married/engaged, I just have a simple sterling silver band with daisies on it. I got it at one of those jewelry carts in the mall 6 or 7 years ago and it has held up remarkably well for a ring I think I spent all of $11 on!

Other than my wedding ring (which I’ve only had for a few short months), I wear a Tiffany’s eternal circle necklace that my 3 college besties all wear. It’s been 10 years and it’s still close to my heart every day! I even wore one of my BMs necklaces as an anklet as my “something borrowed” during my wedding.

I wear my wedding band everyday, like most people, but mine has some family history. The band belonged to my grandmother, June, and is probably about 60 years old. She wore the ring through her world travels as a Navy wife and bearing 6 kids. A few years ago, although June is still living, my aunt and her only daughter, complied all of her jewelry since she wasn’t in the mindset to be wearing it anymore, and saved it all for the grand-kids. A short while later, my aunt suddenly passed away, much to everyone shock and sorrow. So when I got engaged, my uncle told me that his late wife had always loved me like a daughter and would have wanted me to wear June’s ring. Now every time I look at it, I imagine it on my grandmother’s finger as she raised my aunt, dad and all my uncles.
