Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

Well I definitely wear my wedding ring every day, but I also have a gold necklace that was a gift from my mother in law, who is Brazilian. It has a little gold bean on it, which I love because we call my daughter “feijaozinho” which is Portuguese for little bean :)

Other than my wedding rings, I’m always wearing a pair of small diamond earrings in a second pierced hole. My mom gave them to me. (The first hole is more often than not empty… because I’m usually too lazy to put an earring in there) :)

I wear my engagement ring and my wedding band on my left hand every day, my celtic love knot ring (a Christmas present from my hubs) on my right hand, and my diamond studs (a birthday present) in my second hole. I change the earrings in my first hole and my necklaces/bracelets on a daily basis depending on what I’m wearing.

I wear my Mom’s engagement ring on my right hand every day. My Dad died when I was a baby, and my Mom had her ring reset and gave it to me as a present about 10 years ago. It’s one of my most cherished possessions, and it’s a way to keep them both close to me every day.

My most meaningful piece, are a pair of diamond earrings that my dad gave to my mom their first Christmas as a married couple. He has since given here a new pair, so I got the old (smaller!) ones.

Aside from my wedding ring, I wear my Fightin’ Texas Aggie class ring everday. This Texas A&M Univeristy ring is widely recognized here in Texas, and I get stopped on a regular basis by other grads just because they see it on my finger. It’s extra special, as it was bought by my Aggie grandad who still wears his Class of ’49 ring everyday.

I wear my wedding set every day, but I also wear a Tiffany lock pendant every day, too. A few years ago my husband got me a Tiffany Rose Pendant and I never took that off. In April of this year, we were almost killed in a car crash. At the hospital in the ER, the doctors cut off all my clothes and removed my jewelry. Somehow my Rose Pendant got lost. I was heartbroken. When I had mostly recovered, my husband got me this lock pendant as a replacement. Now I never take this one off!

I wear a bangle bracelet from Key West every single day. My Mom and I got matching bracelets created by an island native (that sound more primal than it is) to commemorate our last family vacation before my brother and I grew up.
