Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

I wear two bracelets every day. One is a cape cod bracelet that my Mom gave me for Christmas a few years ago(and both of my sisters also wear) and the other is a thin gold chain that my two childhood best friends gave me. :)

I wear my my wedding ring every single day! It was my husband’s grandma’s ring that she had passed on to my father in law when his dad died. When my husband told his parents that he was going to propose to me, they asked if he wanted to have it. I absolutely love it! It’s antique and scentimental!

There’s nothing I wear everyday – once upon a time I always wore my wedding band & engagement ring when I left the house, but then I had to stop wearing them after I got pregnant and my fingers swelled. Now I’m just out of the habit of putting it on since I don’t like to wear it at home because I tend to scratch my baby with it when I change her diaper.

Right now, I wear a replacement wedding ring that my husband bought early on in my pregnancy. It’s a very simple ring-and I love it because he picked it. Granted, I miss my OOAK (one of a kind) rose gold blue topaz engagement ring enclosed by two white gold 1/2 pave diamond bands :-( It’s just enough glitz for this hands-on gal.

I wear little white gold hoops with little diamonds that my aunt gave me for Christmas years ago almost every day. They are my go-to because they go with everything and they actually snap firmly shut so I don’t worry about losing them.

I’m not married but I imagine that would be a daily staple. But since I’m not (and even when I am married, it will still be this way!), I always wear a silver ring with 12 little turquoise stones in it. It was my grandma’s (possibly my great grandma’s, we don’t know) who gave it to my mom who then gave it to me. I never take it off & feel naked without it. It goes with everything too!

I wear my wedding ring everyday. It was also my engagement ring but didn’t see the point in getting a band as well so it got a name upgrade! The sole diamond in it belonged to my great grandmother and my mom had used the same diamond in her wedding ring until she upgraded to a bigger rock. Designed the setting myself too so it has a lot going on for something so small.
