Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

I have seven silver bangles I wear every day. (I’m sure when I get married my ring will always be on my finger, but until that day comes, my bracelets are my jewelry signature.)
Six of them were my Nana’s, who died when I was just a baby. I used to steal the bracelets from my Mom’s jewelry box when I was younger and wear 2 or 3 at a time, but I’d always put them back…Except this one time I kept wearing 3 of them. Shortly after my Mom gave me the other 3…they are all mismatched, but so pretty. For some reason I was always afraid to wear more than 3. Now I can’t imagine one being missing!
Then last year I got my 7th. An older gentleman that used to work where I do always commented on my bangles, saying his wife had some beautiful silver jewelry. After she passed away he gave me one of her silver bangles. Now I have a lovely story to share about a lovely lady I never had the chance to meet.

Random fun fact…Erin’s husband was actually my first boyfriend waaaaaay back in middle school!!! My eyes lit up when I saw this post, because I love Erin’s jewelry and have met her a few times (and now she is basically a DIY Blogworld Celeb…how cool). Her personality is just as beautiful as the items she creates. I would LOVE to own some of her stuff.

Ooh, shiny! I always wear a ring that has the three significant diamonds that my husband gave me: my original little engagement diamond, the marquis shaped 20th anniversary diamond, and the final (hubby says no more diamonds-hee, hee) diamond that balances the trio when we put them together for our 33rd anniversary. It’s super special and I look at it several times each day—–we celebrated our 40th anniversary this year with a trip to see the Grand Canyon for the very first time! ‘Tis awesome out there and a “bucket list” item for sure. :)

Everyday I wear my engagement ring and wedding band as well as a diamond and sapphire ring that dates back to the 1800’s. It was my great grandmother’s and has been passed down through the generations from my grandmother to my mother and to me on our 21st birthday. Now it’s my legacy to pass on.

I wear the same watch-bracelet everyday for more than 10 years (since I was 16). The funny thing is, that I didn’t even liked it, when my parents gave it to me for Christmas, because I had another big wish (I have already forgotten):-)

It’s Jill here of, Jill&Eric @ frozen sunshine, there are only two pieces of jewelry I wear every single day and that is my wedding band and engagement ring. (eric wears his wedding band everyday, that is all he wears…pretty much ever)
I seriously never ever take them off, through painting and baking and running and cleaning and skiing, they hang out with me and therefore look just a little loved (the way I feel) with paint splatters and dough stuck in the cracks.
However, this post has made me take a serious look at these rings and by George! I’m going to clean them so they can be “OOOH SHINY!”
