Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

I wear my wedding and engagement rings every day. I used to wear a pair of hand-blown glass earrings every day too – until I tragically lost one of them (it fell out of my ear). No hope of replacing since a friend picked them up for me in Bermuda and they are OOAK. Sad!

I wear my engagement ring and wedding band every day: the engagement ring is actually an anniversary band with three round (and super sparkly!) diamonds “to represent past, present, and future,” but I just picked it because it was pretty:) The wedding band is seven smaller diamonds that wrap around the three stones in the engagement ring. ALMOST every day, I wear a pair of pearl studs. I found them right after I got married and I bought them, telling my husband they were my Valentine’s Day present to myself. He approved.

I wear my wedding ring everyday as well as some small diamond stud earrings in my second hole that were given to me when I was young by my aunt. I got my second holes pierced so that I could always wear them.
I try to wear other jewelry, but as a rush out of the house in the morning, other stuff just seems to get forgotten.

The thing I wear EVERYDAY broke this morning at work :( I wear an engraved star with my LO initial on it hanging on a necklace. I’m devastated. She’s 18 months (super close to Clara’s age!) It’s my way of thinking of her while I’m at work!
But this post also hit close to home! I grew up in Charlotte, NC. Completed my undergrad (envi sci) & Masters (special Ed) at UVA. So kinda cool to hear that Erin studied elementary ed! However I live on the West Coast now, Portland OR, but would love to be back in Cville!

I wear a couple things every day:
My running shoes. I don’t wear them all day, but I definitely wear them every day! It keeps me sane and allows me to tackle whatever the day throws at me – toddlers, difficult projects, etc. Anything.
The second thing I wear every day is a pair of earrings my dad gave me in high school. For so many years my parents couldn’t afford any gifts (5th -10th grade) at any time of the year. When my dad got a promotion, he was so happy that he bought my mother, each of my sisters, and myself a pair of earrings. I wear them every day as a reminder that hard work can get you where you want to be (for my dad it was getting to a point in life that he could afford gifts for the people he loved in life).
