Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

I wear three pieces of jewelry every day – my wedding ring and engagement ring, and my great great grandmother’s wedding ring. It was given to me by my Grandma when I stayed with her in the hospital while she was recovering from surgery for colon cancer. I have a very special bond with my Grandma, and I love having a constant reminder of her with me at all times.

I wear a different version of a wedding ring everyday. I may wear the weding ring my hubster gave me, the ruby ring my hubster got me during our first year of marriage, or one of the rings that my grandmother gave to me.
(My husband actually had my original wedding ring stolen the week before our wedding- EEK!, so I got use to mixing up my official wedding ring with other meaningful rings that I own. Somehow it stuck even after the ring was replaced.)

I only wear my princess Diana/Kate replica ring, LOL. It’s the “petite” version so only 2.5 carats with .5 of diamonds in the halo. I get tons of compliments on it and was a big splurge for me. I’m a bit crazy about all royal stuff and it’s my fun sparkly until I get engaged/married.

In high school, my friends got together and bought me a class ring for Christmas my senior year, because my family couldn’t afford to get my one. I would love to wear that every day still, but I noticed it was starting to get worn, and it’s too important to me to have it get ruined… I have thought about putting it on a chain, but I really am worried about losing it. So, I need to figure out a creative way to wear it, because it is so special to me.

I have a simple sapphire ring my mom gave me for my 17th birthday. Its nothing fancy and wasn’t overly expensive or anything, but its my birthstone. On vacation once, I took it off before getting in the shower, and it disappeared. Gone, nowhere to be found. We looked everywhere for it, but couldn’t find it :( Fast forward 3 years, the family whose house we had stayed at were moving around furniture and found it under a bed in the far corner of the room! So now, never take it off, and has that much more meaning because it was gone for so long.

We didn’t have much $$ when we got engaged, so I just had a fake diamond ring for our engagement. I wear two pieces of jewelry everyday – my wedding ring and my grandma’s wedding band. It’s just the plain white gold band part of her wedding set, but it has her and my grandfather’s initials engraved on the inside. He died in his 40’s, but my grandma lived to be over 90 and she wore it everyday of her life. I wear it to honor her and the love she had for him.

In addition to my wedding and engagement rings, I wear a simple chain almost every day. I asked for a 16″ chain for our anniversary from my then-boyfriend in high school and he amazingly picked out a sparkly, delicate white gold chain instead of plain silver.
