Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

I’m crazy about all kinds of jewelry! I have been wearing an 18K gold puzzle ring every day for the last 28 years. My parents bought it for me when they were living in Saudi Arabia. It has tiny diamonds and rubies set in two of the bands. It’s very unusual and beautiful.

What a great prize. I wear most of my jewelry on a daily basis. I wear diamond stud earrings passed on from my mom, a cursive E necklance with two diamonds, given to me by my mother-in-law when my husband and I got engaged, and of course my engagement ring and wedding band. My most recent purchase is a set of stacking rings for my right hand with the initials of my husband and two daughters. Obviously, I love wearing meaningful jewelry.

OOOH SHINY!! I’ve been wearing the same ring since middle school (I’m 26 now) – it’s a stainless steel band that my grandfather made from a nut (washer? not really knowledgable in that area ha!). He used a metal lathe to create it for my mom when she was younger – it looks nothing like a nut but a clean band with a simple detail at the edges. I love the weight of it and I’m pretty sure it’s left a permanent groove on that finger.

OOOH SHINY! The only thing I wear every day is my wedding band. It used to be my engagement ring, but…that thing is a death trap. RIP every cardigan ever! It ripped holes down the back of every one of my right sleeves. Bah! Now I have a beautiful, simple wedding band, and it’s glorious! I can knead bread, run my hands through my hair, cuddle up to my husband…all without risk of injury. Wonderful!

There are 2 items I wear every day. one is a pair of silver earrings (it was the same pair for the longest time, then I took them off one day and promptly lost them ( cue wop wop sound ), so I’m wearing a different pair, now). I proudly wear my wedding and engagement rings everyday, both of which have been on my finger for just over a year… we just celebrated one year of marriage bliss on October 8th.
I regularly wear a silver necklace with two butterflies that my fiancee (now husband) bought me for my 21st birthday. At the time I thought butterflies were the business, I practically had my college room lathered in butterfly paraphernalia. Oh the shame! This little necklace reminds me so much of the love my husband has for me and the memories we have from college and all the adventures in between.
