Fab Freebie: Maine Attractions

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

It’s a shame we can’t take any major road trips right now (thanks to our wee one) since this week’s giveaway has us itching to head north to Kennebunkport, Maine. That’s because Spaces Kennebunkport– the shop behind today’s prize- embodies just the type of comfortable seaside home accents that Sherry and I love. Never mind that we can barely spell the name… we still want to eat up everything in their store. Have no fear if you also can’t make it out to K-town. Spaces Kennebunkport has an awesome online shop and one of you is gonna win a $150 gift certificate to spend there. Score.="nofollow">

Kenne Four Grid

And not that we’re in the business of telling people how to spend their prize money, but here are some things we would totally snag for ourselves:

Kenne Our Picks

Wanna take home some of this beachy bliss? Here’s how to enter this week’s Fab Freebie (oh, and stay tuned for a discount code this Thursday):

  • PRIZE: $150 toward anything in Spaces Kennebunkport’s shop
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MAINE ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … since our giveaway sponsors reside in a fairly uniquely-named town, we’d love to know of any unique / weird / funny city names that you live in, have visited, or have noticed on a map (i.e. Love, VA; Bummerville, CA; Sweet Lips, TN)
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the USA
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    MAINE ME!

Well, I used to live in Kennebunkport, but since I think that one’s off the list, I also used to live next to a town once known as “Sleepy Lonesome.”

I once spent a summer flying float planes in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada. It’s so small and so far north you actually have to fly into the town just to get there.

I don’t think Canadians are actually eligible to win BUT I had to share the name of where I grew up:

    Dummer Township, Ontario Canada.

Yes Dummer. The neighbouring township was called Douro and there was a very “springfield/shelbyville” vibe between the rival townships. People in Douro made fun of us by saying they lived “on the Dummer side of Douro”. However, we got the last laugh when our provincial government had all these small communities amalgamate to save money on infrastructure and administration costs – we are now the Township of Dummer-Douro!

    HA.

“MAINE ME”!! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to shop in tha store. I would LOVE to just visit this town. I once drove through Mechanicsville, VA. Always get a chuckle when I see this town sign. I hope everyone is enjoying the Memorial Day week end and please don’t forget to stop and reflect on all of our servicemen and women and their families that have made the ultimate sacrifice!!

MAINE ME! I grew up–and am going back to this week for my birthday and my little brother’s graduation–in a town called Sisters. When I went to college out-of-state people would give me a blank stare when I told them the name of my town. Usually they would say, “Like sisters and brothers?”
Also, in Oregon there is a town called Boring. The traffic signs always get a laugh out of me: “Boring Next Exit”, “Boring, 10 miles” etc. Oh how I would love to improve our little Wyoming house with some treasures from Maine!

I live in Indianapolis, which is not an exciting name. But every summer we drive to SC for vacation and pass by Bat Cave, NC. Which always causes at least half an hour of Batman and Robin references! And of course, we’ve been to family reunions and the like at French Lick, IN, which always gets out of state-ers giggling.

The closest town with a weird name when I was growing up was probably Pawtucket, RI. Or Woonsocket, RI.

Out here in California… not too many weird names. Maybe El Cajon, CA – which means The Big Box.

On the drive down from Dallas to Austin Texas, you’ll pass through Waxahachie, Italy, and the city of West (which is not in west Texas, but rather north central). West is famous for its Czech heritage, and if you ever make the drive, It’s almost sinful not to stop in West for a kolache at the Czech stop.
