Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

Idea Me! My most creative idea was using what was probably an old television stand as a liquor stand/cabinet… I live in DC and go to Rehoboth often so I’ve actualy been to that crazy antique barn in Denton, Md.

One of my best ideas was to use tension rods placed inside my kitchen cabinet to organize/place big casserole type of dishes!

Making over my daughter’s 4 ft dollhouse that was a free gift. Very nice, but horrible colors…it looked like an 80’s roller rink. I spraypainted the trim glossy white. All the dollhouse furniture we purchased is black and pink. I found a scrapbook booklet at half price at Joanne and it was all very posh, elegant and black, white and pink. I used spray adhesive on the back of the papers and remade her dollhouse into a treasured keepsake.

Decided to elope with my husband over an Easter holiday weekend visit after dating seriously for about 1 month.

3 years + 2 baby-girls (another on the way, tbd) later: still my most creative decision.

    Love you Josh!

    IDEA ME!!!

I loved the Marimekko tuuli (trees) wall hanging I was seeing all over the place, but the wall hanging kits were expensive, as well as the fabric… so I found a marimekko shower curtain for way cheaper, made a frame out of scrap wood, wrapped it, and now have a HUGE wall hanging perfectly sized for over our dining table!

Maybe this isn’t so creative, but I stalk the Lowe’s scratch and dent items, here in The Woodlands, TX they have their own ISLE! I’ve purchased a brand new maytag washer & dryer for $650, a new stainless steel samsund french door fridge and I am currently stalking a stainless steel maytag dish washer for $200. They employess practically know me, plus I never pay retail- not even on clerance… Negotiate those prices people!!

Using the cut out feathers from a plastic shower curtain – painting a canvas and modge-podging the feathers to them. Very cool and modern artwork!

We have a lamp with a tall, narrow shade that is really hard for my husband to cram his hand in to switch on and off. So I rearranged some things so it could plug into the outlet that’s connected to a switch! Problem fixed!

I actually just hung a picture wall in my living room this past weekend… and did it using peanut butter! I read on Pinterest that someone put peanut butter on the back of the frame where the nail goes, to make your mark on the wall, and it worked! Holla!

Well, there was that time I thought to use a wooden plank that our drywall guys left behind (they used a pair of them to make a ramp up to their truck bed) for a “reclaimed beam” look mantel. That idea got shot down, so then I thought to use the plank as the basis for a three-hook station for my kids’ backpacks.

That idea was shot down too, but I know someday I’m going to find a use for those things!

IDEA ME! We had a beam towards the middle of our living room in our split level house and we built a media center around it with a closet on the back end and it turned out amazing. You would never know there was a pole there.

A creative idea that just came to me one day revolved around using our left over deck wood scraps! I felt bad throwing the wood away and it couldn’t be used as firewood because it was pressure treated, so my husband and I made a cute box stand for our laser printer to sit on in our office. After painting it and adding a decal, you can’t even tell it’s deck wood!:)

I don’t know how creative this is considered, but my husband and I go to our local thrift store almost every week to check out their furniture selection. Every piece of wood furniture we own, we purchased there. We paint, refinish, restain or do some kind of improvement to the furniture and make it our own. All of our furniture is solid wood and looks nicer than many of the designer sets I’ve seen. Every time visitors come to our home they ask us where we got a certain piece of furniture. This may not be creative to anyone else, but I am always proud that we have one of a kind pieces for a fraction of high end furniture store prices.

IDEA ME! Rather than stock up on more batteries for the recent hurricane, my husband had the best idea of the year when he came home with lamp oil and wicks and then proceeded to make little lanterns out of glass jars in the recycling bin. Cheaper, reusable and romantic :)

I really wanted a certain bedspread in a duvet, but could only find it in a comforter. So, I took the comforter, tore out the pick stitches, took out the fluff, and turned it into a duvet…not the most creative, but it worked for what I needed/wanted!
