Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

    IDEA ME
My most creative idea was to use an art deco china cabinet as part dresser (lower half) and part bookcase (upper half). This cabinet is located in my bedroom. I didn’t want a traditional dresser and I love reading in bed.

I plan to paint it yellow to contrast with my sage green walls.

I am really at a loss for creative ideas…I just “borrow” other people’s ideas from the fabulous internet :) More recently Pinterest has fueled my creativity plagiarism.

    IDEA ME!

I bought an expensive hallway runner from West Elm and my dog almost immediately got sick on it. The back-end kind of sick, if you know what I mean. It was ruined. Rather than buy another expensive rug, I got the crazy idea to buy a strip of astro turf at Home Deopt. The green is bright and happy in my mostly white and wood home, it’s dog proof, and for 9 bucks for a 3′ x 12′ strip, it was worth at least a try. It would up looking really really cute!

IDEA ME! I made candle holders out of birch tree branches and had them all over for my fall wedding last year. I loved them and apparently so did everyone else because when I went to load up my decorations people had taken almost ALL of them. I wanted some:( Also, is that normal? Thank God people didn’t just walk away with my rented decorations. Weird.

It wasn’t my idea (saw it on a blog: http://littleshop.squarespace.com/little-shop/2010/5/19/swing-arm-sconce-prayers-answered.html)… but the post convinced us to use swing arm lamps in the bedroom (from Lowes). It is wonderful to free up space on our night stands.

IDEA ME!! One of the best reuse, cooking ideas and for recycling is really from my sister but I incorporate every week. Take the wax cereal, cracker, etc bags and when you want to pound out meat like chicken to make something with thin chicken, you stick it in the bag. It doesn’t stick as much as saran wrap and it’s ALOT stronger!! Pound away!!!

We took the top off our hutch, turned it upside down to make a bookcase and used the bottom for a tv stand. Currently it is living as a hutch again, but you never know what we’ll use it for next.

I think the most creative thing I have done with my home is…begin to be creative!! I started following home blogs and trying to be a little crafy and before I knew it I was no longer afraid to create! Now I have tissue paper flower arrangements, some awesome garage sale picture frames as a wall display, and other tasteful and fun creations around the house. Sometimes the biggest battle is with yourself and you just have to thros yourself in!

    IDEA ME!!

As a little girl, I was very creative. I always wanted a doll house, but my parents would never buy me one. So I made my own doll house, using random objects found throughout the house. Like stacking matchboxes for a dresser and a sponge as a bed.

I really don’t know where the creativity went. I now find creativity via the internet or HGTV.

One of my favorite kitchen moments has been buying a gallon of Arizona lemonade, throwing some fresh mint into the food processor, mixing it all together..and here’s the kicker–throwing it into the freezer! (Rum can always be added later, of course).

Slushy tangy minty (sometimes tipsy) heaven in a cup!

for the bedroom i share with my two sisters, i used all different patterns of scrapbook paper and cut out big letters to spell our 4-lettered nicknames (ness, cole, ange). i used old weathered clothespins (to my mother’s dismay… i had to buy her new ones later!:) to clip the letters to thick hemp and i strung up the hemp with letters attached in three droopy lines above our bed.. it needed a bit more somethin-somthin, so i used more clothespins to clip pictures of us- recent and oldies. i LOVE it! nostalgic and thrifty looking, and it ties the room together.

The creative project I’m proudest of is the 50th birthday scrapbook I put together for my Mom. I tracked down friends from her childhood to current friends and had them send photos, personal messages and letters that I compiled into one giant scrapbook. Each person’s page was different and unique to their relationship with her. A lot of work but it turned out beautiful and my mom loved it!

    Dear DIY’s, IDEA ME!!!
I have sooo many ideas but here is my first…at my house on Sat. morning, I have created what I now refer to as the “CCC” or otherwise known as: Cinderella Crisis Clean-up. In 15 min. flat the Mister and I take care of some much needed super duper quick cleaning. The el kitcheno timer is set and then we are off…throw a quick load of laundry in, twirl around the house with a duster for some lightning quick dirt removal, attach brushes to my feet and skate on the kitchen floors, give the bathroom a good wipe down, etc. Of course. music is a must, “I will survive” is one of my personal fav’s!
Then I am able to do some much needed shopping by spending my hard earned $ at yard sales and then glazing everything in my path with Oil Rubbed paint. My relationship with ORB is my current DIY meth!!! I am thinking about checking myself into the ORB rehab center, “GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE…”

IDEA ME! My living room doesn’t have any switches that operate light fixtures or plugs. I hated having to walk over to the corner to unplug the main lamp to turn it off each night. So I bought a kit that has a little receiver which plus in between the outlet and the light. The sender looks like a regular light switch, and you just screw it into the wall whereever is convenient. So now my light is on a switch!
