Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

    IDEA ME!

I am not super creative, but I was very happy to get a doggie door installed letting the dogs go in and out when they please without them bugging me!

IDEA ME!! Best yet was finding an ugly $6 lamp at Goodwill…bringing it home to “redo” and finding out that it had a gorgeous hammered turquoise finish underneath two layers of brown spray paint. 6 hours later…I had a gorgeous new lamp. Good thing I was trying to be so creative and fix an ugly duckling in the first place. :)

IDEA ME!!! My all-time most creative idea was to troll the empty hallways of a building on the college campus where I work. Everyone had moved out to prep for the building’s renovation, so it was like my co-workers and I had our own personal free thrift store! I scored 3 picture frames, books, a nice glass serving dish, and poster board for my classroom! It may not seem like much, but when you’re a teacher, every little bit helps!

    IDEA ME
I am addicted to Pinterest and get most of my ideas from there.

Right now, I am working on refurbishing an antique window as a picture frame and, after making my own Ball Jar soap dispenser, my family wants me to make some for them!

I may have to go glue some black buttons on a pumpkin later tonight, too…

    IDEA ME!

One day I visited your website looking for a solution to the “laundry baskets on the floor of our bedroom” problem. I couldn’t stand looking at them any longer but didn’t have the money to purchase “nice hampers”. We NEVER use the bathtub in our master bath room, however it still has a shower curtain to cover it. Then it dawned on me, put the baskets in the bathtub where they are still easily accessible, but can be hidden in an instant by pulling the shower curtain closed. Can’t believe it took me a year of complaining about the laundry baskets to figure this one out! :)

IDEA ME I always have ideas – some come to fruition, some don’t. One of my favorites was to take some old paint that was a much lighter shade of green than my dark green wall and paint a square “frame” or mat right on the wall. I then re-hung the too small, too similar-to-the-wall-color canvas art piece and now it’s showcased beautifully.

Best idea ever was to add an attic access to our 1000 sq ft house. Doubled the storage space and let us live there with a family of five for several years more!

I am not sure if it is creative or a little white trash but I created a window shade this weekend by applying fabric and trim to a paper “readi-shade”. Tacked lining on the back and unless you try to life it (which we wont – hello odd window into the carport) you dont know it’s paper in between the layers of fabric.

At our first house, we bought all of the living room furniture from Craigslist. I used slip covers, refinished some pieces, and used great accessories to make the house look like like I spent way more than I did.

IDEA ME! My most creative idea? Marrying an architect, who was so handy around the house! So whenever I need a creative solution to a problem and I can’t solve it, I just go and ask the architect. He’s full of ideas.

    IDEA ME please!

I’m not really a creative person however our home was definitely owned by a family of creative people before we moved in! Almost everything in our place has been recycled from something else… And my husband is the greatest at finding solutions to almost any problem that comes up in our home… He can make things useful that I couldn’t even imagine (like I said not creative haha).

My favorite creative addition is a chalkboard wall in our bar area room. When we have guests over, we always enjoy writing fun messages on the wall or posting the menu for dinner parties. My nieces and nephews also enjoy doodling on the wall when they visit.

We don’t need the Victoria Falls when we wash our hands. To conserve water, open your cold and hot valves only halfway (or any position other than fully open that allows enough pressure you NEED).

I know this may seem simple and small, but we bought three collapsing bins from World Market a few months ago (we didn’t even have recycling in our hood til 2009 if that gives you an idea of how “green” my city is). We rotate filling the bins with our recycle items. Since there are three (meant for paper, plastic and soda cans), we always have them in strategic places. We put one in the kitchen near the trash can, one in the garage waiting to go out with the weekly recycling and one in waiting (laundry room)for overflow. It has sAVED our lives and our tiny kitchen from plastic baggie recycle nightmares!

I have two toddlers that spill food on our kitchen floor everyday. The milk soaks into the grout and is hard to keep clean. I found an office chair floor mat and placed it under the kids table to make clean up a breeze. I’ve since heard about other moms doing this too, but I was super proud because I came up with it on my own.

I live in an apartment in a big, old building in the fan. The window had ugly apartment blinds that needed something (anything). I found an old oar at a second hand store, hung it above the window, and draped a thin fabric over it. Beautiful window treatment that didn’t block the light!

WE were at a resort (my family and I) and each person was given a pumpkin to decorate with not many tools…I created a witch pumpkin, turned the stem of the pumpkin into it’s nose, gathered some colorful leaves from the outside and had some small battery operated lites (the under counter touch kind) for the eyes. The pumpkin took first prize…
