Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

IDEA ME!!! Probably a coat hanger made out of a piece of discarded wood, yard sticks, a little stain, and 4 metal coat hangers that were bought at Lowe’s! And no, I did not come up with this idea – I copied it of course. :)

IDEA ME! Certainly not the most creative idea, but maybe the most recent… we’re remodeling our kitchen and I really wanted some nice, solid shelves in the pantry so a few pieces of cabinet grade plywood, some corbels, 1″x2″ trim, plywood trim and paint later, a beautiful pantry with no wire shelves!

    IDEA ME!

Not sure how creative it is, but I “fluff” our shirts in the dryer for a few minutes and then hang them up to dry. It saves on electricity and I think they’re less wrinkled than if I dried them all the way.

    “IDEA ME”
My most successful DIY home project was adding trim moulding to my livingroom. It is open to the dining room and kitchen and needed to be subtly differentiated as its own space. Worked wonderfully! Some pieces of wood trim in a great profile + a nail gun = complete success!

IDEA ME! My most creative idea was when I decided we should convert our old garage into a formal dining room at our old house. My husband was the creative one that did all the work/construction and it was amazing!

“IDEA ME” Let me just say that I am constantly trying to think up ideas to make my life easier and to creatively decorate my house. Right now I’m sanding, painting and upholstering our dining room chairs. By the way, I’m using ORB (I think we may have to start a 12 step program for this!)

    IDEA ME!!

We are moving and I am so excited to finally have a playroom for the little one! It will be a shared space in an outbuilding though, so it will be a storage shed/playroom/craft room for me/art studio for my mom/maybe Wii playroom… there is not a lot of sq. footage so arranging everything will be interesting to say the least.

I made a trophy for my husband’s fantasy football team by spraypainting a football action figure from the Target toy section gold and nailing it to the top of a piece of 2×4. The guys all thought it was hilarious and are excited to pass it around each year to the winner.

I wouldn’t say this was the MOST creative thing I’ve ever done but I sure did love how they came out. For Christmas last year I used a little etching cream to make cute beer glasses for my brother. You can see them here:

IDEA ME! My all time most creative idea isn’t so much “creative” as a spur of the moment necessity that went right. I have a small city cinder-block fence patio that is OLD. It is cracked and nicked (and should probably be replaced, but that would be $$$). I wanted to paint it a sand color. Bought one gallon and it was terrible. I wanted to cry. Then it dawned on me that only a dark color would do the trick. So I chanced it, went back and purchased a 5 gallon bucket of Glidden plum-colored paint and the rest is history. It is GORGEOUS, (almost) new looking, and I get tons of compliments.

I’d have to say my most ingenious home fix was taking down the door to our master bathroom and replacing it with a curtain on a tension rod. Our solution had to be temporary because we live in an apartment, and we’re still waiting to hem the curtain, but it has made life so much easier! You can read about it here: http://figuringoutlifeblog.blogspot.com/2011/09/taking-them-down-hanging-them-up.html
