Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

    IDEA ME!

Mine was my spice drawer. An entire 24-inch wide drawer filled with adorable Ikea spice jars, each with a label on top so when you open the door you are looking down on the labels. And of course, they are alphabetically organized. Love, love, love it. Hard to give up an entire large drawer, but 3 years later I haven’t once regretted it!

The most creative idea I had was to re-do my parents’ living room. Instead of buying new things, I simply spray-painted a bookshelf and the pots for plants all matte black. They fit in much better with our black furniture and overall it looks much classier and sleek.

IDEA ME! I love the Lowes Creative Ideas magazine! I have one right now and there are about a dozen pages dog-eared with projects I want to try.

The first creative idea that springs to mind was done by our house’s previous owners. The door between the garage and the house is permanently unlatched – they did something to make sure that all we have to do is push the door open when our arms are full of groceries, and the spring closes it behind us. Of course there is a deadbolt there for security, but since it’s really an interior door that is usually never an issue.

Best idea I ever had was (after mounting our TV to the wall) to turn the TV console into a storage/foyer area solution by taking off the doors and using bins for shoes and the top to toss keys and mail, etc. Since we don’t have an actual foyer and you come right into our living room from our front door, the console performs perfectly in form AND function.

I like Stephanie’s comment about making a tiny human in her belly. I did that too! But that aside, I think my most creative idea was to add COMMAND hooks to the back of a thrift store, pop-out mirror so that I’d have a place to hang my purse and sweater (instead of cluttering the island stools). I’m also a landscape designer, so that’s probably my most frequent use of creativity.

IDEA ME! One of my best ideas was to lay off the “potty train on my schedule” type of stuff for my fourth child and instead let him wait until he was ready. Because it’s not that big of a deal. (though it sure did seem like it with my first.)

    Idea Me!

When we were getting married I loved the scrapbook that we could have purchased from our photographer. The problem was that it was horribly expensive and I would never want to leave it out. I solved that by making our own scrapbook on Shutterfly. It is very personal and if something happens to it (like spilling wine on it since it’s on the coffee table) we can re-print at minimal cost.

The best part about it is I was able to make books for all of the parents and personalize them by adding in photos of each parents’ friends. They all loved them and it was really easy.

One creative thing I’ve done is cooking related – I can make most leftovers in to enchiladas – which we love. Chicken, beef, veggies, etc. – throw it in a tortilla with some cheese, top with sauce, and you have a yummy dinner!

my most creative idea in this home so far was to turn the bathroom closet off of our sons playroom into a changing station! it looks really nice and keeps me from running across the house for an extra diaper and changing him on the floor of his playroom. we also use it to get his pjs on after his bath, its a really convenient and creative use of the space!

IDEA ME! I think my best idea to date is to scan in some quotes from a favorite quotation book my grandmother kept. I plan on creating some family portrait word art with them (since it’s all in her handwriting) and having it printed on canvas as an Xmas gift for my parents (so shhhh don’t tell!). Get ready for the waterworks! :)

I think my most creative idea so far was taking the old light fixture from our kitchen, painting it, and turning it into a wall hanging that actually disguises the thermostat that was ‘conveniently’ placed in the middle of our dining room wall. It would probably take me too long to explain how a light fixture ended up like this, but believe me, it worked!

I think my most creative idea to date is using up all the ‘bad’ pictures (blurry, etc) printed back in the days of film to create lettering for my better-years-late-than-never scrapbooking projects. Why not use them for something textural, pretty and useful rather than chucking ’em!
