Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

Our current house has cathedral ceilings in every room. Including the closets. When the master closet seemed too small I made it a double decker and picked up a high reach garment hook online to access the upper clothes. Now we have double the space.

The best idea I ever had, other than marrying the hubster 28 years ago, was to flip-flop our traditional living room with our dining room. Both rooms felt awkward and uncomfortable and were right next to each other. One day I just switched them out (pushing, pulling, and tugging the furniture between rooms) and WOW! It made such a difference and was pretty cheap to do. The only expense was for an electrician to switch the ceiling fan into the living room and install the dining room chandelier into the new dining room along with adding a Lowe’s ceiling medallion since the ceiling was 15′ high and the fixture looked lost and out of proportion. They are now our favorite rooms!

Most recently, I made a super cute (and not obnoxiously large) flower headband for my daughter to wear in my sister-in-law’s wedding. Total cost for super cute headband: $3.50. So much cheaper than buying one.

IDEA ME!! I can’t even begin to tell you ideas I have. I feel like I can’t be creative sometimes because I’m overwhelmed with what to do first so I don’t do anything. It has to change. I’m sure a $50 gift card to Lowe’s could get me started! :)

My hubby and I go to a lot of concerts and I made him a “word cloud” of all the concerts we had seen thus far and framed it for our anniversary last year. The colors compliment our living room and it hangs nicely with a group of IKEA framed photos above the couch :)

My most creative ideas were for our wedding. I loved diy-ing most everything from the centerpieces to the invites using rubber stamps to the corsages and paper luminaries. Makes me sentimental.

I like to re-purpose things I’ve picked up at yard sales or by the side of the road. I guess the most creative project has been making our garage an all-purpose room, using all sorts of materials and objects to house a massive book collection, a budding Ebay and Amazon business, a woodworking area, and to create a food storage area.

Our front door is on the side of our house hidden from the street, but the fence gate is visible. I’ve begun decorating the fence for the seasons instead of our front door so everyone can enjoy. It’s also helped let trick-or-treaters know we’re home.

One of the more creative I guess you could call it ideas we had lately was for some art to go on top of our tv console (we have an entertainment stand type deal going on so it needed something on top we thought). We took a yard of colorful, patterned fabric that we loved and cut it to wrap around a canvas I had for another project that didn’t go so well and two old frames that had seen better days and hot glued the fabric so it totally wrapped around all three and then arranged them so they’re leaning against the wall and each other. After adding a long tray with glass votives in front of it too it really dressed the whole thing up and only cost us the $3 for the fabric since it was on sale and was a lot of fun! Were thinking about trying it out with some pins and holiday fabric for “slip covers” this Christmas to spice things up too!

I am in the process of unloading ideas… just bought a house that has my very own workshop in it, and I’m going a little nuts. I’ve had an apt for years with no room to be crafty, so now that I have the space I am indulging in eight projects at once, all of which were ideas I’ve been storing up for awhile. Can’t wait to finish one :)
