Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

Idea me!!! Thanks to YHL, I’ve realized that a good dose of spray paint can totally change something I love but that doesn’t ‘go’ with the color schemes in my house… and I can turn that lovely miscolored thing into the perfectly matched conversation piece I wanted. I did this with an awful rooster kitchen set (paper towel holder and scrubbie holder) and ivory paint and now they look great in my brand new kitchen :)

I’ve been able to use books in a few creative ways around our house. I framed some of our favorites in the living room, and used the covers of old Reader’s Digest condensed books (super fun and graphic) to make a bulletin board.

my whole family spends a lot of time in our kitchen. i’m always cooking or baking something, but i wanted something for my husband and son to be a bit more comfortable as they talked with me and watched me make dinner, cookies, etc. for my husband, i put an easy chair and footstool in one corner. in the opposite corner i created a little play area for my son. it has a garage sale find play kitchen (that is stocked with my own older kitchen tools and some tupperware) a canvas tote stocked with dinosaurs and books and the kitchen table got turned into a fort with an extra big old tablecloth i had.

So many ideas…so little time! Latest creative idea? I made long strings of pennants to serve as a backdrop for my daughter’s wedding, using cream and white fabrics and laces. Came out really cute, and she plans on reusing them in her home for holidays!

I think my most genius idea so far was taking the office equipment we bought with the house (standard Ikea) and removing the doors to create a china cabinet in our kitchen. I had been shopping china cabinets all over and this one ended up being f-r-e-e. It was definitely a lightbulb moment for me!

Nothing super creative here, but I did recently sew my homemade fleece diaper liners to our prefolds diapers so that I don’t have to sort them after doing diaper laundry, or find a liner after the toddler has been playing with them, or have the liner shift around in the diapers and not do it’s keep-baby’s-bum-dry job!

    IDEA ME!

We’re getting married in less than two weeks, so all my creative ideas lately have been wedding-related. Like, the centerpieces I came up with while goofing off in Hobby Lobby with a friend. Or, the logistics of how to get all our DIY stuff to the wedding location 6 hours away and then back again, while our honeymoon’s in the opposite direction.

On a side note, Lowes was the first store we checked out when we started our registry, and we were so disappointed they didn’t have one there! That’s our favorite place! :)

IDEA ME!!!! One of my better ideas was when my parent moved into the house my grandparents had liveed in for 40 years. G&G’s bedroom was right off of the living room…Mom and Dad knew they didn’t want to use it as a bedroom so I suggested they take out one of the closets, widen the doorway, put in French doors, and use the room as the den. They loved the idea…..did it…..and is probably the most favorite room of the house. Whoot-whoot!

IDEA ME!! We have 2 skinny windows next to our front door and I wanted something to block people from being able to see in, but I didn’t want anything permanent. I bought one sheer window panel and cut it in two, wedged 2 toilet tissue rolls together (after I painted them white) and used that as the “rod” to hold the panels up in the windows. Total cost $5!!!

Some of my most hilarious crafty memories from college were my roommates & I going to thrift stores and digging through our closets/art supplies to create funny and cheap Halloween costumes. One year a friend & I dressed as Sonny & Cher, complete with handmade yarn wigs and a microphone made from the inside of a potato chip bag (the silver lining! …not that potato chips need a silver lining the way clouds do).
