Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

    IDEA ME!

My boyfriend and I are going tailgating in a week with a ton of people and we only have a small grill (for our equally small deck). We were considering buying a new one, but a. didn’t want to spend money and b. wouldn’t have anywhere to put it once we bought it.

By chance, someone in our apartment complex put a beaten up gas grill in the dumpster! We grabbed it and ripped out all of the hook-ups to the gas tank and plan on filling it with charcoal and using it as a regular grill for the tailgate. It’s not the greatest, but for one day it’ll work perfectly!!

I don’t know if I can say it was the “most” creative idea, but I suggested to the hubs to buy a table with a glass plate on top for his man cave. That way he could then slide in his most beloved baseball cards and have a really cool and personalized table.

    IDEA ME!

I always have the worst time keeping grocery bags (or shopping bags) upright in the back of our SUV. I finally figured out that a bigger bag (kept in the car at all times) could be used to put the other bags in and would stay upright.

A “Where is the Car?” map. We move our car so much for NYC alternate side of the street parking, that we used to forget where it was parked. I glued a map of our neighborhood to corkboard and framed it. Now, we mark the car location with a tack.

    IDEA ME! Puh-leease?

I’m not an overly creative person, but when we had our 1st son we became stumped with the idea of a cramped dining room (10 x 10) and a bar height table. Neither of those things are idea for a separate high chair or the kind that sit on the chair. So, my husband being a cabin maker/master carpenter made our own wooden bar height high chair (like the kind you see at restaurants. I found some old fabric that I liked and made a nice cushion on it for our little guy and it fits better than anything we’ve seen or tried before!

BUT, that’s about as creative as I get. So, I could really use help…

My creative idea was: We don’t have any walls in our bedroom without a window or a door in it so I covered up one of the window with a 6ft wide Bamboo blind. It looks great with our padded headboard.

My most creative solution to a problem was so technical and so boring to describe (think financial reforecasting modules that run on mainframe computers) that you might actually fall asleep while reading it and plop face-first on the keyboard. I can’t be responsible for that kind of health hazard. But trust me, it was an *awesome* solution.

” IDEA ME “,my all time favorite is when we painted our concrete in our basement with the garage flooring epoxy kit with flakes ,WOW ,so shiny and easy to clean and touch up ,it was our solution since we had a sloped floor with a drain installed under the concrete ,everybody asks how and what we used and are FLOORED when we tell them our secret .

I used a ClosetMaid Cubeical (like this http://www.target.com/p/ClosetMaid-6-Cube-Mini-Cubeicals-White/-/A-13217291 but with 9 cubes) to store all my sweaters. Fits perfectly in my closet behind the door, and now I don’t have to switch out summer and winter clothes, they’re all there, all the time, with easy access!

My most creative idea thus far- making my own “long” shower curtain for our master bath out of a flat Twin sheet (yes, I did the buttonholes and seamed it perfectly for our space). Plus I painted my own design to match the colors we were looking for! The best part was, I only paid $3.99!!

We can’t replace the kitchen in the fixer upper we just purchased because it’s just not in the budget. Luckily the cabinets are sturdy solid wood, and generally in good working order…so we needed to find a way to just spruce them up a bit. I decided to paint the interior of the cabinets aqua this past weekend. The exteriors will be a two toned scheme…white on the top and dark grey or espresso on the bottom. Can’t wait for the finished product!
