Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

IDEA ME Right before DD communion party in May our glass outdoor table became what was do to some wind and a open umbrella. I liked my chairs and new table in May is $$$ so DH put a plywood top and we covered it with…a drop cloth for a tablecloth. Not very DIY I know, but it worked!

IDEA ME! One of my favorite creative ideas I used: I took old foam core boards I had lying around from old design projects and paints from my art classes then I found an abstract rug design I liked and painted a black and white inspired (but not duplicate) abstract flower painting that was free but looked like it could have cost about $100!

Hmmm…the idea that comes to mind first was using a $40 IKEA storage cube to recreate a $300 (no, I’m not kidding) cat feeding station from Orvis.

we had a great “repurposed” weekend:

-we managed to claim an old church pew from an uncle’s basement and we are using it as a banquet in our kitchen

-we used our awesome old haywood & wakefield 9 drawer dresser as a new media table for our tv in our living room and moved the giant attached mirror to the big empty wall in the kitchen

-framed some starfish from our wedding for wall art

    productive weekend!

Our offer on our first house was just accepted! Now I am anxiously awaiting our closing date! I’m sure the peps at Lowes will get to know us very well. This gift card would certainly come in handy!

I got a lil creative by using a scrap piece of slate tile and made myself a cute cheese board. It looks expensive and you can label the cheese with chalk!

I’m on creativity overload thanks to Pinterest. The down side is none of my little projects seem as impressive, LOL.

Funny, too, that I just posted last night that we love Lowe’s and had a bit of fun posing last weekend in the Halloween decorations they had out.

This sounds pretty lame, but my life changed for the better when I realized I could use those plastic lids off of coffee cans, potato chip cans, frozen stuff in bowls (after the bowl part wears out on other stuff), ETC., for SO many things. My kitchen counters stay SO much cleaner because I use them for “spoon” rests (read “everything” rests) all over the kitchen. In the pantry, I set them under things that might drip–olive oil bottles, for instance. In the laundry room, they go under liquid detergent, bleach, etc. BESIDES all the kinds of RESTS they provide, they make great little snack plates for kids, pets–and even me. They are top rack dishwasher safe, and if one gets lost, it’s no biggie.

Most brilliant idea… we had an awkward sectional cutting into the middle of our living room (we already owned it when we bought our house, and it was only a year old), so what’d I do? Built an L-desk on the other side to make it look totally intentional. People always think we bought the sofa FOR the place now!

My most creative idea was taking our not-often-used beach umbrella and “planting it” in in a heavy pot on our back patio with flowers. Loving the shade it provides as well as the ability to put the umbrella down and up easily…and it was super cheap!

We took an old antique/vintage kitchen possum belly table and cut the legs down to coffee table height. Not only do we have a one of a kind coffee table (complete with zinc top) but we also have TONS of storage for kids toys, remotes, magazines, etc!!

IDEA ME! I’m having trouble getting in touch with my creative brain at the moment. But we did just spray paint the fake wood (as in wood paneling ugliness)handles on our double ovens…so they are now silver (as in stainless steel awesomeness). Which is a huge step on redoing our kitchen including matching appliances!

I have a lot of home accessories and furniture from several moves that I just get tired of. Before I get rid of anything I have a rule of spray painting it white to see if it breathes new life into it. 9 times out of 10 it does! It’s like you bought something new all for the price of a can of spray paint. =)

Our bathrooms are 1950s-60s. The guest bath is white tile with god accets. We used a pen designed to touch-up cars to paint the gold pieces (after sanding with a drimmel tool). It looks fabulous and as if has always been that way. Needless to say, we won’t be doing much to update that room.

One of my (a.k.a. my wife’s) more creative ideas was a laundry station for our laundry room. When we remodeled our kitchen we asked for the extra pieces of counter top (you pay for it in 12’sections). We used that extra “free” piece for a laundry folding space. And since it is right off of the kitchen it ties in very well!

    “IDEA ME”

I’m not creative but… I was tired of not being able to see my clothes in my double closet. It wasn’t a WALK-IN so I had no room for a ceiling fixture. so I decided to grab some white rope lights & hang them around the trim on the inside of the closet. Now every morning or evening I just have to turn the rope light on & I can see everything. :)
