Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

We cut an upper cabinet so we could install an over-the-stove microwave and then had a big hole that we didn’t know what to do with — it stayed that way for many years until one day I got the idea to make a kitchen sign – too cheap to buy one, I found a scrap board in the garage that was the exact size I needed! So I hand painted it with supplies I had on hand and loved the way it turned out – why does it always take me so long to figure things out?!

When my husband was getting his Ph.D. our son wanted a belt just like Daddy. We had zeo money to buy one so we ended up cutting a old belt of my hubbies and punched holes in it for our son. It was a hit and I thought I was pretty creative. Poverty helps you to be more creative.

    Hootie Hoo, IDEA ME!

I feel like all my creative endeavors have been inspired from blogs and craft sites from all over the interwebz, so I hate to steal someone’s idea and call it my own. But, i do love being crafty and creative, so I’m sure I’ve done something cool and original along the way! (Blame my preggo-brain and lack of sleep from being able to come up with it right this second!)

I’m not a creative-type, honestly, but your sewing a baby quilt motivated me to make a toddler pillowcase for my daughter. I haven’t sewn anything since middle school home ec class. I made it out of one of her baby blankets so it was also sentimental. It took me about 4 hours over the course of two nights. Eeek!

IDEA ME! Our most creative idea was using the blue/clear glass bottles we collected for our wedding to decorate our first house. They line all the big windows in the living room, and they’re so pretty in the natural light. We’ve actually ended up reusing all our wedding decor!

IDEA ME! My favorite creative project was painting two Craiglist side tables bright yellow to add a fun pop of color to our otherwise brown brown brown living room. My husband wasn’t thrilled with the idea but he’s learning to live with them. And they still make me happy every day. :o)

The most creative idea that we came up with was making our own desk from reclaimed wood and using an existing nightstand. We only spent money on the knobs else we reused it all.

We also made a lampshade using paper lanterns and we get constantly complimented for it

    IDEA ME !!!!

For my wedding, I came up with this great DIY idea for assigning guests to tables. I had taken a bunch of our engagement pictures, posted them in frames, and instead of just numbering them, I came up with song titles to go along with the pictures. For example, we had a picture of us sitting on a dock of the Baltimore harbor, so I named the picture “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay”. The guest’s place cards had the song title written on it and they had to go around looking at the pictures to find their tables.

    Hootie Hoo! IDEA ME!

I make custom cakes for a living. They take a lot of time and patience, especially when making fondant figurines. When making a person (princess) I would roll each hair individually…took forever to get each one the same size, etc. Then one day I had a bright idea to put a ball of fondant in a garlic press! It worked great, and saved do much time!!!!!!! Thanks.
