Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

I am going to use left over beadboard to cover up the holes and ugly appearance of the inside of a coat closet.

The best idea I ever had was subscribing to amazing home-related blogs. Borrowing other people’s genious ideas? Way better than anything I could come up with on my own! (Thanks for sponsoring a great giveaway!)

Our most creative project yet? Probably our whole kitchen? It’s a fairly large custom set up with all kinds of eco-friendly tricks like rerouting our kitchen sink water out to the garden!

    IDEA ME!

I had to find an easy solution for storing baby wipes and diapers in our eleven month old’s nursery since she can now get into EVERYTHING. So, I cleared out a drawer in her dresser and put all the changing stuff in there since her changing pad rests on top of her dresser. It has worked out fabulous and I love not having to wrangle the baby wipes container from her little hands.

I found a large ornate picture frame at a thrift store. I threw out the super ugly painting in the middle and just hung the empty frame as art itself. For Christmas, I tied a red ribbon inside the frame and clipped cards to it!

I actually painted my own art for our bedroom because I’m cheap and didn’t want to spend the $ on expensive art. It turned out really awesome and I’ll probably keep it forever so my grandkid’s grandkids can say “Whoa, this has been in the family forever”.

My favorite project is actually still a work in progress — I’m making a vintage train station inspired sign for my son Graham’s room, using reclaimed pallet slabs. It’s in the garage, awaiting the final pass with a sanding block, and I’m already in love with his “Graham Central Station” sign :-)

Idea me! I had a creative moment recently when watching a Dawn commercial. It occurred to me that if it’s designed to break up grease, it would get grease stains out of clothes. And it does! Any old cheap dish soap will get out oil stains. Just saturate the stains and and wash.

This may not be the most creative idea ever, but my fiance and I got engaged and closed on our first house on the same day, so I just recently framed some really cute engagement and house-warming cards from friends and family to hang on one of the walls in our kitchen. They’re colorful and meaningful and I love them!
