Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

Learning how to turn my kids long sleeves into short sleeves and long pants into capris and shorts has saved me lot’s of money and time spent shopping.

We have very hard clay soil so when I wanted to put in a new bed instead of digging down I covered the grass with newspaper and then dumped lots of dirt on it. The plants have established in the top soil and will hopefully grow into the deeper soil. Not unheard of but still not typical

My recent creative idea was adding a vanity/desk to my bedroom since my bathroom is SO small. It has helped a TON. My boyfriend never finds hair straighteners or make up brushes in the bathroom, he loves it :)

    IDEA ME!

So far our most successful, creative idea has been in the form of ORBing our shiny brass chandelier in the breakfast nook. We did it well over a year ago and looks a bit like a wrought iron chandelier. I found tiny chandelier shades at Lowe’s that were perfect. I can only tell you how thrilled I was to spend under $10 to fix the horrid 80’s fixture. It’s one of my favorite fixes in our house to date.

Idea me! We just moved, so hopefully we have lots of creative ideas yet-to-be-had. But I arranged our built in bookcase in the hall by colors and think it looks really neat! (although I admit I saw it somewhere!)

Hmm, I actually have a great GREAT idea for reorganizing my pantry I just haven’t gotten around to doing it! Buying jars for all spices, flours, sugars, etc and putting chalkboard paint on them to write names. I hate all the different size of jars. It’s driving me nuts!

IDEA ME! I am a pretty creative person, so I have done lots of projects over the years. But my most recent burst of creativity came when I used foamy door hangers (the kind that are made for kids to decorate with foam stickers)as a mirror frame in a bathroom. It was great – they are white and have a wavy shape, and it’s a beach-themed bathroom. I just cut off the door hanger part and stuck them on with mounting putty. Cheap, easy, light, perfect for kids, and looks a whole lot better than the plain old mirror frame!

I’d say some of my more creative moments have come when my dogs have needed something and I decide to go ahead and make it out of random stuff I have around the house. http://diynot.tumblr.com/post/3478669219/diy-dog-stuff-for-safety-and-to-save-money

    Idea Me!

I like to think of myself as a pretty creative person, but one of my favorites to-date is last year’s christmas gift from my (the 18-month-old) daughter to her grandparents. I took an outline of her hand (hand-turkey style) and traced a whole bunch of them on green cardstock. I cut all of the hands out and then arranged them into the shape of a christmas tree on another sheet of paper. Then I decorated the “tree” with a paper star and paper ornaments, and dated it “Christmas 2010”. It was a fun way to make a personalized gift, and both sets of grandparents love it!

I used a patterned curtain to lay across a solid white comforter because I was not ready to commit to a bold pattern for a slipcover for fear that I would get tired of it. I always get compliments on my ‘bedspread’ every time we have a guest over. And, I can easily (and cheaply!) switch it out when I get tired of the look.

Ok, I didn’t actually make it, but it was given to me: an earring organizer made from screen (think screen porch) cut into a rectangle and tacked onto a wooden frame. The screen is sturdy enough to support the weight of dangly earrings!
