Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

Years ago when I was in the 7th grade, I got totally inspired by circuitry in our science class. So, I went home, and built a lighting system for my dolls house :-). It was totally awesome!

Making over my entire house! When we moved in it was a dump. The carpet looked like a murder scene. We got all dark laminates and repainted every wall and it looks great! A totally different house that we can call home.

My best idea was using a shelf on a baker’s rack in our very tiny kitchen to hold the microwave. It’s so nice not to have it on the counter any more!

I found a picture of an awesome wall of vases with hydrangea in them. Called the furniture store and the vases were $25 each. The project would have cost me $900. I decided to try it with mason jars instead and it’s just as cute. I owned every jar already (ok I had to finish off pickles for the last jar!) and u got the silk hydrangea buy one get one free at hobby lobby. Cost us $6 instead of $900 plus!

Idea Me:) When our house was undergoing some major renovation, we didn’t have curtains. So I took paper towels and hung them in strips, taping them at the top. They cheaply served the purpose of privacy, and allowed ample lighting.

IDEA ME! My most creative idea? Hmm… I’m so uncreative! Probably my most creative *recent* idea was to grow an avocado tree from the seed of one of the avocados in our kitchen instead of buying a new indoor tree, because I kill them all and that would be even MORE money down the drain!

idea me! i usually think my most creative idea is my most recent one, and then the pride fades…but i just made my son a pair of pants from the bottoms of some jeans i cut into shorts at the beginning of the summer for myself. they have a real-looking hem, so they look a little less home-ec than usual.

My latest creative moment was turning a Broyhill coffee table that I picked up at a yardsale for $20 (because a dog had chewed a corner of the table), then turned it into a cushioned top ottoman. With $20 extra-wide & thick upholstry foam & 50% off faux leather designer fabric from the local fabric store…..I have a new ottoman table for under $50 (which, priced in the stores is over $400) =)

I love old wood chairs, especially ones that are all by themselves (just a single chair) at thrift shops. I managed to collect three different wood chairs recently, but in my tiny little cottage the different styles and different wood stains were distracting. So I spray painted them a cozy honey mustard, antiqued the surface with some sandpaper, and then added some beautiful vintage pillows in the same fabric. They look charming and sweet and make my home look more unified with their new look.

    IDEA ME

It’s seems silly to write about this as one of my most creative fixes, but… our little rental house has some of the craziest storage I’ve ever had. Huge closets in the guest bedroom and the LIVING ROOM(?), almost no storage in the kitchen/laundry… etc. It’s wierd. Anyways, I like to keep all of our cleaning tools (brooms, duster, mop) in ONE SPOT, preferably near the kitchen. But the shelves in the pantry go all the way to the edges of the closet, meaning I can’t stand anything up on the sides. So, I went to Target and grabbed a bunch of those 3M hooks that are removable. Now, I have my Swiffer Wet Jet, 2 brooms, the dustpun, my duster, and the lint roller, all neatly hung up on the back of the door. I was so proud of myself. I guess it’s not that big of a deal, but GOSH it felt like an accomplishment. Now, everything has a place, and I don’t have to hunt for anything. Plus, when we move into our own home (hopefully soon!) I can just remove the hooks without damaging the door!

I’m new to being creative…. I’m trying but haven’t done anything too crazy yet. I guess the most creative thing I’ve done is to sand and stain an old dresser. Not very creative for most but it is huge for me, the girl who used to trash anything old and just buy new!

idea me… I had been looking for the right piece of art for our vintage kitchen and at a garage sale found an old general electric calendar from 1962. I took my favorite month (a family admiring Mom’s birthday present- an electric tea pot- in a kitchen filled with general electric appliances. very schoolbook illo style) and framed it. $15 later the perfect wall decor… (the print was 10 cents, the mat board left over from a project. Unfortunately all of our garage sale frames weren’t right and we had to buy new. This potentially was a $2 project. But oh well… It looks great!)

I’m a person who feeds off other’s ideas. So I see pictures on websites and I either copy it or develop it further to suit my needs.
I installed a plant shelf across my living room window so my cat would not eat (or dump) my houseplants. I love it (and my cat is still trying to find a way up there)! lol

My creative idea was my chalkboard sliding door in the kitchen. Now my daughter can draw and keep occupied while I’m in the kitchen cooking or cleaning. It also helps that I can keep an eye on whatever she’s doing.

IDEA ME! This is less of a creative idea and more of a duh….but I only recently figured out that if I load the silverware in the dishwasher by category (forks in one pocket, knives in another, etc.), it makes unloading so much faster! Everyone else probably already does this, but I felt like a genius when I thought of this!
