Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

    IDEA ME! =)

Taking wire mesh and bordering it with thin strips of wood, front and back, to use as an earring holder! =) I now have 2 sizes, a 2’x3′-sized one and another 1’x2′-sized one. They’re perfect!

Probably my most creative idea has been to mush up a ripe banana into my pancake batter to make banana pancakes (which gets my kids to eat fruit without objections!)

I just purchased my creative ticket and am boarding now! I really haven’t been in a creative “place” until now. So if I come up with something uber-creative, I’ll be sure to show it off to the world…oh and post on here :)

IDEA ME! My creative tip is to use flatbread for little, indivual pizzas. I put whatever I have in my garden on them in the summer and whatever toppings I have in the fridge the rest of the year.

Idea Me!! I just recently installed board and batten in my foyer along with a bunch of coat hooks for backpacks, purses etc. Other than the fact that it took about 5 times longer than I planned on it was a total success and I love it! (I actually thought I could do the whole project in a day while my hubby was at work and surprise him, haha he came home mid project to a complete disaster)

    IDEA ME!

One rainy Saturday, I decided I was going to go crazy with DIY crafts. My most favorite DIY craft was an idea I got off of the HGTV network but I put my own spin on it. I took the peg board that you find in tool sheds or garages and covered it in decorative wallpaper (using wallpaper glue). I then poked through the wallpaper so that you could see the holes. I screwed in hooks and hung it in my kitchen. It works great to hold all my pots and pans and looks really nice as wall decor with the decorative wallpaper. That’s my spin on the pegboard pot and pan holder.

    IDEA ME!

It was the night before a friend’s wedding. I finally got around to wrapping their gift though I couldn’t find my wrapping paper. Being a broke college student, I took the brown wrapping paper and wrapped the box. Then painted love birds on the top and tied it with hemp string. Was a perfect package for the vintage style wedding :)

I am most proud of the kitchen/living room overall we did. Removing tongue-n-groove paneling, knocking down walls, all new lighting, refinishing our cabinets… all on our own. It has completely revamped our home.

I had a tin full of old keys that my parents had stashed over the years. They were from old houses, vehicles, snowmobiles, etc. I decided to use the keys, hemp yarn, and a stick to make a wind chime (key chime.) It looks and sounds awesome and I didn’t have to pay a dime for it :)

New house, new dog, new ways of doing things. My fantastic idea was to let the sprinkler not only water the grass, but also let it wash the dog. She loves it and I end up only a little bit wet and soapy.

My ingenious idea is to set my Scentsy pots on Christmas light timers so they come on a little before get home from work and go off when I go to bed. Keeps the bills down, the wax lasting longer and the house smelling goooood!

    IDEA ME

My favorite apartment in college was part of an old house. The windows in my bedroom were uber tall! The blinds that were on the windows when I moved in were old and disgusting. So I got permission from my landlords to replace the blinds. I found some nice woven type blinds at Target, but they were not long enough. However, there was a decorative piece attached to the top of each blind made out of the same material. So, I detached that part and used a two-faced adhesive to attached it to the bottom of each blind. Presto! The blinds were now long enough to cover the whole window. :)

This is a loaded question for me as I am in a design profession… But for this entry I’ll say it was a mounting clip I designed to hang a sheet metal light reflector made in my last year of architecture school. Although it was a concealed item, that clip hung light reflector invisibly.

For outside entertaining, I found an average wooden, rectangular serving tray at a garage sale for $1. I spray painted it a neutral color. I shop clearance racks for place mats with different colors/patterns/designs to place down in the tray to go along with whatever get together I am having.
