Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

And I’m lost on creativity at the moment. I know there has got to be something, but I can’t think of anything. I did get those plastic boot trays for by the doors. Those have saved me a lot of cleaning…I guess that’s something.

My most creative idea was just to take a risk, and realize that decorating doesn’t have to be so serious, it can be fun – and to stay on the lookout for things I love, not just things that will work to fill the space. This was my lightbulb moment and helps me relax and have fun with our space.

Not really creative, but I’m in the process of refinishing or replacing ALL of the hardware in my house, going from nasty gold/brass to a beautiful black satin. It looks gorgeous against my white doors!

I recently hung a collection of pretty plates in my dining room. I was stumped as to what to put on the walls in there and I kept going back to these beautiful plate walls. It was so fun hunting down the plates and I just keep adding more. It makes me smile every time I walk by it.

My hubby and I just closed on our first house this week – we haven’t had much time to come up with some oh-so-clever ideas (yet!) but we were feeling pretty clever when we decided to compensate for an under-sized dining area by inexpensively expanding the deck out back…at least 3 out of 4 seasons, we can seat people outside to dine…and easy clean up. :)

IDEA ME! I can’t think of my most creative idea, but I am very good at quick thinking. I know I am very lucky to be able to do this, but I also forget that other people aren’t as good at it. I can get frustrated when I see something as “so simple”, when others have no idea what I’m talking about.

Idea me!…hmmm since my husband and I are so lovingly competitive it will have to be the idea that even had him glowing with pride. While selling our 5 year old house, we noticed that with all our landscape sprucing something still seemed off, our vinyl shutters were just a little sun dull so I started researching some kind of vinyl cleaner or paint, then BAM it hit me–ArmorAll. Yes, the stuff you clean your car with. It worked perfectly and our shutters looked brand new.

    IDEA ME!!!

My husband and I redid a buffet that came with a mirror. The mirror was absolutely ugly so we decided to take it apart and rebuild a more modern frame around it. Our inspiration was the Mongstag (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00081591) mirror from IKEA, only a little bit smaller. But with real wood and dark stain, it looks just like it and we love the modern feel it adds to our living room :)

i generally copy the creativity and ingenuity of others (hee hee) when it comes to problem solving, although i’d have to say, i do tend to use clothespins like they’re going out of style. cheap bag clips, makeshift paperclips for coupons and bills, (embarassingly) holding up some curtains right now until i figure out a different solution. sadly, hardly ever do i use them to hang laundry!

Instead of picture art, my husband and I wanted something different to make a big statement. We went to Ikea and purchased 12 white lanterns and placed them in 4 rows of 3. It covers the huge empty wall we had and has a big impact when you walk in. We get oohhs and awwes whenever someone stops over!

IDEA ME!! I guess my best idea when it comes to our house is making sure our furniture can be used in many different ways or many different rooms. Example: Our “man room” has a sofa bed couch and can be quickly turned into an additional guest room if need be. And most of the furniture is pretty neutral and can work in any room. Which works out great, since i can never make up my mind and constantly move stuff around.
