Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

    IDEA ME!

My best idea was saving an old mascara wand and washing it out to use as an eyelash comb. Works great at getting out clumpy mascara!

I actually just had an idea last night for a “tropical trifle” recipe. Pineapple cake with layered with mascarpone cheese, whipped cream, and a sprinkling of rum and shredded coconut. I’m making it tonight, so we’ll see if it’s as good an idea as I imagine it to be!

    Idea me!

I made a delicious, spur-of-the-moment recipe for dinner just this past Friday night!
I took a casserole dish…layered instant garlic mashed potatoes (target brand)on the bottom…a can of chicken corn chowder (Campbell’s Chunky) on top of the potatoes…and cornbread mix (Jiffy) on top of that.
Pop it into the oven at 400 for 20 minutes….and BAM! Delicious. A smash hit with such minimal effort that it made me laugh. =) Darn, now I’m hungry. lol.

IDEA ME…renovating a bathroom and buying tile from Lowes! Maybe not all-time best idea but a good one still. The back cushions on our couch were looking so slouchy but the couch is only 5 years old so I was not about to buy a new one. I collected all of our old throw pillows not in use and put them inside the zippered cushions behind the cushions that came with the couch – INSTANT FIRMNESS!!! I was quite proud of myself.

IDEA ME! My most creative happened in my first home which was a small rowhouse in DC. We had the old fashioned radiators in every room which were eyesores and a decorating dilemma. For the ones in a smaller bedroom and the office, we ended up having nice wooden covers built for them and then added a matching wooden bookcase on top. It solved the ugly radiator problem and gave us much needed storage. :)

    IDEA ME!!

I really wanted lanterns in my bedroom to go with a new nautical theme. Everything I found was very pricey, until I found a pack of two that I loved for $30. The downside was that they were meant to be outdoor hardwired lanterns. An electrician quoted me $100 to hardwire them to the wall. A bit of internet research and $15 later, I had bought two cords and two switches, and converted them to regular plug-in lights that are now gorgeously mounted on my bedroom walls. Not much creativity, but definitely involved going out on a limb!

IDEA ME!!! I just bought a toasting/warming cabinet that used to be in a restaurant, and am turning it into a dresser…. somehow. It’s going to be awesome though, her name is Greta. But I have to gut it, clean it, put it back together, fix a handle, add casters, and bang out some dents.
