Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

After months of wishing I could turn the exterior light of the garage on/ off from the house (garage is 100′ away), I discovered the garage door opener manufacturer makes a remote relay that can be used with the three button garage door remote. So I ordered that up, and then wired it inline with the light. Now I have a wirelessly controlled outdoor light on the garage!

This idea I stole… I took our most-often needed phone numbers and printed them out on a plain sheet of white paper using an old-style font. Then I put it in a plain black frame and hung it on the wall next to our phone. It gets many compliments!

IDEA ME! Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of creative time with 2 little kids at home, but I’ve been trying to come up with some great Halloween costumes for this year! Last year our family went as Curious George characters. My 2 year old was George, my not-so-willing-but-said-yes husband dressed as the Man with The Yellow Hat (homemade costume), and a very pregnant me went as Chef Pisghetti. It was great!

My most creative idea this month thus far is using my gas fireplace (it’s shut off obviously) as a home for my CD’s, DVD’s and video games. I used some old plastic milk crates that had been living in a closet since I was in college and turned them on their sides so that they resemble shelves.

IDEA ME! I use a three ring binder for each room in the house and I put things in it that have helpful information about that area (such as tips on table decor ideas and how to set a table in the dinning room binder). Then I hide it in that room under a cabinet or such so its not out in the open but ready if and when I need it. They are a life saver and my little go-tos for making things like having people over or overnight guests feel 5 stare :)

I’m pretty proud of the moment when we figured out that we could convert the office closet into a TV nook for our giant tube TV. We thought we’d have to sell it because it was way too huge for the small office, but it fits so perfectly into the closet that it looks practically built in! =D

We just redid our master bath, and we tried to re-use the old mirror. We even spray painted the frame to try and make it match, but the decorative leafy look just didn’t jive with the new sleek lines and angles of the newly designed bathroom. So we just took the old ugly frame off. We even got free hanging hardware from Ikea! We asked a sales person for help (since we couldn’t find hardware that didn’t come with mirrors) and they just have “extras” laying about!
Brand new frame-less mirror with a great beveled edge for free!!

IDEA ME! All my great ideas coming from blogs like yours or pinterest as I am not so creative myself. My most recent idea is to turnan old coffee table into a bench and hang hooks to make our mud room what it is intended to be rather than wasted space currently being used as the dog’s room! I still need to act on it though!

I think that one of the most creative things I came up with was when I made a fall wreath last year. I got a large candle ring that had leaves, acorns & berries, a garland of leaves that matched the ring, and some florist wire. I attached the leaves from the garland to the outer edge of the candle ring with the wire and voila! It was really cheap and I love how it looks. :)

    IDEA ME

My most creative idea came while in (mini-)crisis mode! I awoke one morning to something odd — the lack of kitty snuggled next to my head. My husband ran into the bedroom saying we had left the sliding door to the balcony open and the cat had jumped to the neighbor’s balcony! [An amazing feat in retrospect!] She was scared and doing the “I’M TERRIFIED — GET ME OUTTA HERE!!!” siren meow (also heard when heading to the vet). Apparently she was too scared to jump back home! So while my husband was pounding on the neighbor’s door, I searched the apt for anything remotely board or plank-like that I could safely stretch between balconies, I found the ironing board! Yep, I slide that puppy across and she trotted over it happily… purring and rubbing me as soon as she was home!
