Fab Freebie: Lowe-ded With Ideas

***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***

Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!

Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.

Lowes Creative Ideas

  • PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

Our best idea….We moved into a house with no light switches in the bedrooms! Instead of hiring an electrician, we installed a wireless switch we got a Lowes! This switch has a outlet receiver that you plug a lamp into. We then mounted the switch to wall just inside the door – instant light switch!

    IDEA ME!

The most creative idea I’ve ever been a part of (I can’t take full credit — it was born from a brainstorming sesh with my man) was a wedding gift for his sister and her fiance.

We wanted our gift to be unique, personal and fun! So for the active and sporty couple, we came up with a basketball goal, a basketball and jerseys designed by us. The fabric and lettering for the jerseys are in their wedding colors, the team name is Air (their last name) since Love is in the Air was their wedding theme AND it’s like Air Jordan (get it?!), on the back the number is their wedding date and their names are Mr. and Mrs. Not to mention the cute bride and groom smooching graphic for their “team mascot,” if you will.

We loved it but they loved it more! Score! (Get it?!) :P

Idea Me!!! My favorite decorating idea is to use scrapbook paper in frames to bring a little color and interest to a room. Over top of the paper I like to print out initials (in a large size to fit my frame) and make a monogram.

    Idea Me!

I make a monthly trip to Wal-Mart to buy our dry goods (then I just make a once-a-week trip to a grocery store to get the fresh stuff like meat and veggies). Instead of keeping lists in random places of what we need to get on those trips, I wrote down all the contents of our local Wal-Mart’s aisles (I did look a little funny scribbling away at the end of each aisle, I’m sure), created a Word document with those aisles listed, then had the document printed and laminated at Kinko’s. Now between my trips I can just write with a wet erase marker what we need. Easy peasy!

I wanted a three pendant light fixture over our dining table but all of my favored options were in the $1000 range. But, I was not deterred :) I fashioned my own using some hardware from a lighting store, Ikea pendant hanging cords and 3 Ikea $2.50 shades. All total, I spent about $45 and, six years later, I still get compliments on my crafty fixture. I think this year I might just switch out the shades for a more current look.

    IDEA ME!

I haven’t done this yet, but plan to try it this weekend. I saw on Pinterest the other day that a dog’s nose print is unique and can be used to identify them. I’m going to try putting some non-toxic paint on the noses of my two labs and make a print from them to frame. We’ll see how this goes – it is definitely an outside project and I foresee a lot of dog sneezes in my future.

My last apartment was a daylight basement I rented from a quirky older couple. They insisted on leaving a non-functional wood stove in a corner of the living room…so I stored cookbooks in the oven, and CDs in the drawers, and my stereo went on top. It was a different entertainment center for sure. :)

IDEA ME! Our top drawer in the bathroom was a mish mash of things we use all the time. While at dollar tree, I picked up two drawer organizer sets and when I tried it at home, all of the pieces fit perfectly in the drawer and had the perfect number of compartments to keep everything grouped and organized. My 2 and 3 year olds now know exactly where to find/put away their toothpaste, combs, hair clips, etc. I’m a happy mommy for $2 :)

My best idea is a seasonal shelf, I have small children and a small space can’t really put decorations out or they will get eaten, drooled upon or broken or MIA! So, I have this shelf that I decorate seasonly as needed. Halloween, Christmas, Spring, or just mellowed out with an inspiring frame, “F” for our last name, etc.

I am looking for ideas now to update my bedroom and painting it is 1st on the list, so that Gift Card would come in mighty handy!

Thanks for the oppt. to win!
